Well we were only 3 down at 85....
Horry Fruck, some horrendous decisions out there, thankfully the reviews have sorted them out. The LB to get Wade was the first one I misread, thought it was over the top. Hard to judge from TV but some of those have been terrible.
Thought we were almost even until Head got out, that ball was a cracker. 105/5 right now, we’ve a LOT of work to do to get to the 250-300 I’m hoping for.
Has Jimmy hurt himself? I’m watching with a mate so there’s bants and I’ve missed it?

Yeah Jimmy's had to go for a scan on his calf.
Broad & Woakes doing the damage I see - haven't seen a ball this afternoon - but looks like it was fun! Shame Smith looks like he is going to run out of people to hang around at the other end... looks in monster form again.
Don't know where you're at until both teams have had a bat tho....

Some poor bowling in the last little bit but Smith was just amazing. Nearly 300 will do just fine for wallpapering over the cracks, it’s game on now.

I get booing Smith as he's walking out to the middle, would have done so myself. All part of the banter. Booing someone who has just scored a brilliant hundred as he's walking off leaves a bit of a sour taste, it's just not cricket.

Smith doesn’t score down the ground. I’d bowl full at about 2 stumps outside off, pitch it up and leave mid on and off square-ish and block his runs square of the wicket on the leg side. It might not get him out but it would get him playing to an area he’s less comfortable. Bowling at the stumps, even outside off is a leg side shot to him.
They say Bradman worked the ball in a similar way to Smith. With a test average of 61 that’s only going up this might be the closest we see to a batsman like the Don. Root, Williamson et al all go down the Trumper Gower (G) Chappell line of batting.

Just saw Anderson do a run through and he did it without a limp. At 37, he needs (in my humble opinion) to put his body on the line and bowl in the 2nd innings. He’s in the side, even at 3/4 pace he’s a better option than Stokes - we saw against Ireland what 125 moving about can do.
He may make it to Australia but surely this is his last home Ashes series. Unless he’s a realistic chance to play 3 tests you’ve got to spend his penny in this one.
