I suspect you’ll be favourites for the World Cup, but we (Oz) have found a bit of one day form recently with wins over the Pakki’s and India.
Hoping my boy Pattinson gets a run in the Ashes. I captained a team ‘04 I think) that had a young James Pattinson and Peter Siddle in it - and I took the new ball myself lol. It’s good to be the captain. Should be a cracking Ashes, hopefully as good as ‘05, with the result going the other way.
Cheers 🍻

We’ve got an absolute battery of good fast bowlers at the moment, and our batting stocks have improved with the 12 month bans on Smith and Warner. I feel for Joe Burns. Don’t know what he’s done to be treated the way he has, he’s a mile ahead of any opener we have excluding Warner.
Smith and Warner both have a lot of motivation to do well in England, it will undo a bit of the public backlash they’ve faced since the cheating scandal dropped - although they will always have an asterisk next to any achievements.
One thing I will say about the cheating scandal - There is a zero percent chance that the bowlers didn’t know it was happening. When you get the ball back after each delivery, you know damn well when it’s been damaged. I have no doubt it had been happening for a number of years, and wasn’t unique to Australia.

Also - anyone but India for the WC. I don’t mind us not winning, so long as they don’t.
Can not stand Kohli. Respect him as a batsman, but abhor him as a sportsman, he’s a grub who slaps his own teammates and pushes the limits of sportsmanship at every opportunity. Sachin never acted like he does, neither did Gavaskar.

Which game? Not another TGC already? Cricket 19 by Big Ant Studios Ah. I have a version of it, couple of years old now so suspect it’s not the current one. Got too easy to make runs, and too hard to get wickets lol. Online games were a nightmare.

Yeah I have the first and second of the Bradman games. Didn’t play a lot of the second one so didn’t get the update. Was nice being able to import my big ole 3lb MRF genius into the game, as well as the GN Scoop(s) I played most of my cricket with.
Has it improved much? I’ll look at getting the new one if it has.

I'm going to a day of the ashes! First time I've ever gone.
Not a huge cricket guy. Liked it a lot as a kid, still make sure I know what's going on in the game, but not an avid follower.
I've been to a county one day final at lords, England v WI test at egbaston, England v SA test at newlands, and SA v Aus one day at newlands.
Cricket became HUGE in this country during the ashes win in '05, what did the game's authorities do to capitalise on the win and popularity it generated? Sell it off terrestrial TV to sky...

Cricket is my passion. I was good enough to get to first grade as a fast bowling all rounder. I was lucky enough to have played with and against a lot of state and test cricketers, but was never good enough to play at a higher level. I ended up captaining second grade for most of my ‘career’. The measley income I made from it barely covered my bar tab lol. I got sick at about 32 which ended my playing, which is really hard on me, even now at 45. I wanted to be that wiley old medium pacer still nurdeling it around at 60. I’ve umpired the last few seasons and really enjoyed it, but couldn’t finish out last season due to deteriorating health. The recent surgery I had has me a little more mobile, but I’m still a bit of a walking skeleton. Working on gaining weight and getting back to it, I enjoy it a lot and the $ comes in handy on a pension.
Will be following this thread and contributing plenty - I can talk about cricket all day.
