Hello all,
So I have been told that my swing is "too perfect". I run a 4970K over clocked to 4.9 GHZ. I have dual GTX 980s overclocked as well with an ROG Swift monitor. My mouse is a Corsair M95 and I use the Corsair MM600 mouse pad. I use the Corsair Software included. I have taken a screenshot of my mouse settings during my final round of The Bavaro course to show you that my DPI is set at 800DPI and that Angle Swapping and X-Y axis is also off. I chose 800 DPI cause Loren from HB said that is the setting for PCs that HB suggested and it works well.
My swing is about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch from start to finish. The good part is it makes my swing VERY straight. The bad side is when it comes to longer putts of over 40 feet, I often end up short and for short putts of 3 feet and under, since my swing then becomes about 1/16th of an inch, I have a tendancy to shank the and can miss.
I estimate in the four rounds I played to day I was somewhere between 90-95% perfect, with most of my off center hits in rounds 3 and 4 when my thumb started acting up. TGC wishes me to some how tweak my system to make it where I am not hitting as good as I am. I only know of three things I can do: 1. Downgrade my hardware like buying and using a cheaper mouse 2. Raising my DPI to make it harder or 3. Intentionally miss.
Raising the DPI would make things harder, but that can be offset by taking a smaller stroke, so while it may at first make me miss more, it is something I might overcome with a 1/2in stroke. I don't want to buy a new mouse or a new controller to use only when I play in a tour, that seems ridiculous and intentionally missing to me is as dishonest as turning on the angle swapping. So I'm stuck.
Am I missing a setting somewhere that is giving me an advantage over someone else? I haven't changed my game since Q-school and have always shot this way. I think I have gotten better with the swing over time. In the end I was told that there has to be something within my system that is causing me to shoot in the 90-95 percentile. I'm at a loss to understand what it is, so I'm reaching out to my fellow PC users. I enjoy playing on the tour and even though I'm not near the best, I love playing the game and have been improving.
Today I shot the best four rounds of my life -51 and now i'm being told they won't count and I'm devastated. I missed last weeks cut and have finished 38th as my high on PGA and 18th on Euro tour. I practiced very hard on Bavaro and played with another person today who didn't think there was anything wrong. I want to continue playing but I'm really not sure of what else I can change do. I invite anyone who wants to come play around with me, hell I even offered to go on Twitch to show my settings while I play to prove I'm playing legally, but was told there is something with my setup. SO help!!

Can confirm I have played 6ish rounds with Brighttail in the past few days and it definitely didn't look as if he was cheating.

I was just told: "We aren't making our mark known as it would invite people to game the system. I can tell you that from all our spotchecks that have passed, the average amount of perfectly straight shots is under 12%"
That to me is an insane amount. Even when I was playing at 2200 DPI I was still hitting at least 50% perfectly straight.
So There has to be something with my settings that I'm missing, but I can't see what.
If someoen tells me how to set up twitch TV i'm more than happy to do a video of my setup and have you watch me play.

Get a $30 controller (Xbox wired)
That should clear things up.
But I'm guessing you will not give up the mouse
noel was in the same boat, and he even owned a 360 controller but said he would not use it because he was more "skilled" with the mouse, are you more "skilled" with your mouse?

I've never used a controller so I wouldn't know. Now considering a controller you have to move your thumb down for your backswing then back up along the same axis for your fore swing, I can see how that is MUCH harder than a mouse. This is my mouse swing. Since I have a brace, I claw grip the mouse. My thumb barely touches the mouse. I press down on the left mouse button, move my wrist ever so slightly so the mouse comes back about 3/4 of an inch and back to start. There is very little movement at all and since i'm not using the thumb, I could probably say, yes I'd be far more "skilled" at mouse over a controller as there is significantly less overall movement.

That is literally probably the vast majority of what my golf swings look like. Not a lot to see. Very simple.
I'm going to experiment tomorrow with higher DPI.

Play with your feet. That'll help the swing not be so straight..

If you want to set up twitch, get a twitch account and then download OBS. Here are some instructions, if you are interested.

What DPI settings do you use for everyday stuff on the PC? I golf at the same DPI as I normally use (higher than 800dpi). I don't know exactly what DPI that is as I didn't bother installing any of the logitech software that came with my mouse.

Shut the software off that came with the mouse and use windows drivers.
Check, next, cure cancer.

I have empathy with you.
I have it other way round though - can perfect white line my controller prolly 90% of the time. Just a stock standard Logitech F510 with no funny wheels, no knobs, no 3rd party software, no mysterious genie or anything. Took me a while to accomplish perfect swings, but I don't dare play with this thing or I'll get booted for sure.
Mouse for me on the other hand is pure lottery. Anything inside the red cone calls for a celebration. (47% drives in f/w according to in-game stats) I always play with it, hardly ever make cuts on Web tour and just accept that although I suck, I don't really suck. I keep dpi settings same as what I normally use on the desktop - I have no idea how to check what that setting is (severely technically challenged)
I believe the game - not HB fault - is flawed in the sense that all (legitimate) controllers/mice or not equal - your mileage prolly is based on pure luck. There are peeps who can't play any good with a PS4 controller, but swear by Xbox and vice versa. There are peeps who can nail a mouse and others who can't.
Rules are rules as they say. Too many perfect swings and you are out of here. To answer your question - I'd suggest getting either a different mouse or get a controller. And pray you can shoot straight(ish) with it, but not too straight too often.
Until one day when maybe something will exist that can measure real cheats instead of hmmm, looks like a cheat, therefor it must be a cheat.

The straight-line spot-check is simply a poor indicator if someone is cheating or not. The best answer is not "well, that's what we use." TGCtours can do better than that and they know it. We have to admit to ourselves that some guys have simply put in the practice (i.e. like a pro and spend hundreds of hours working on their game) and have become extrememly skilled at a particular part of the game. You should not be penalized for that, period. When I started playing this game, I was terrible at everything with the same equipment I used today. I shanked drives, chipped worse in the game than I did in real life, and putted horribly. That is a credit to what TGCtours and HB studios have accomplished here, creating a wonderful environment where practice and improving your skill equates to better score and wins. It's motivating, especially in The Golf Club, where many of us would have quit playing it due to boredom if it wasn't for this site. Current Trend: Looking at the leaderboards of most tournaments, many PC players are consistently on top or near it. I understand TGCtours concerns. They want to grow their member base and people will be turned off by a score of 51, so what do you do? Here's a couple of different ideas: - Institute an equipment standard across the board for each platform.
- Separate PC players from PS4/XBox players.
- Bracket the tours into A and B groups (similar to what is being done on the Web and Champions tour).

no......strait line with mouse most of the time? software settings fudged to do so, or simple strait edge. strait line with controller most of the time? either bad controller not working as intended, or a 3rd party controller with much less sensitivity, or flat out software/hardware settings fudged. I have not seen the first good player use a stock controller and get half as many strait line shots as some of these so called "skilled" mouse users. 2nd bolded area, why in the hell would you do this? many of us pc users use the same controllers you console guys use.
