Me too, I dont think natural is always best. That said... spectator mounding on some tour courses might be one of the biggest eyesore in golf, IMO. (Unless it's natural ) Biarritz greens get too much hate. They are just green complexes after all Ok.... F*+# spectator mounding. That is where I draw the line. I get it, stadium courses can help facilitate crowds... But it DOES take away from the experience in ways I can't forgive. I'm fine with architects moving dirt, contriving lies and angles, whatever fine, but at least your still out experiencing the course. To me spectator crowds take you out of the golf and put you into some arena. Golf isn't meant to be be in an arena. Or even feel that way in the slightest.... Absolutely hate it. And hate watching it. If you ever see a Charlie course with grandstands, something has gone very wrong

I have basically watched all of this video's - a huge thankyou for your insight as I feel I stepped on as a designer after just an hour on YouTube (although it has led me to rip up some holes on the Parkland contest!)

Ah great to hear - thanks. I owe pretty much all of my strategic understanding to this thread, studying Joe's (and others' courses) and websites like the Fried Egg. For me, what templates really teach you are: - how to use different landforms in interesting ways. - how to combine different hazards and place them in such a way that they function as a whole. - the importance of variety over 18 holes. - how to test a range of shot values. It's been a long time since I set out to make, say, a Leven or an Alps, but if you see the landforms, you have a bit of background knowledge to know how to utilise them. Enjoy the journey - it's so much fun.

Don't know if any of you have come across this Youtube channel before but it's an average golfer who plays golden age courses mostly using hickory sets. Well worth a follow just to see the on the ground footage of some of the courses he plays. Enjoy.

Very cool. Really like the series. Fun to watch him have to bump it around those courses.

Not played the new game that much yet and just about getting into giving it a proper go now. Can anybody list some MacRaynor/Ross/Tillinghast/Willie Park Jr styles courses in 2k23 I can play?

Great news - we badly need Springbrook et al back in the game. I'm working on porting Sapelo River as well, should be done in a few days. Also pinged you a few files over on Discord that you might be interested in.
