I just want to throw this out there for anyone who might be interested. I consider myself to be a mediocre designer at best, but I love golf course architecture/designing anyway, and I actually have enjoyed mapping courses in OSM since this tool became available. I've already mapped 2 courses (TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney, TX where I live and Country Oaks in Indiana near where I grew up) and created the terrain using the lidar data. I'm currently working on Victoria National Golf Club in Indiana where the Web.com Tour Championship is being held this year. If anyone has a course that they would like to have mapped in OSM and/or the terrain created, I would be more than happy to help. I really appreciate the talent you guys have and would love to contribute.

Yeah, I’m actually kind of addicted now to mapping on OSM in general, not just golf courses. It’s a great way to pass time on a slow work day! But my goal is to go through all of the current top 100 courses and map them out (if they aren’t mapped or if the current mapping is bad quality). Eventually I’ll make a public spreadsheet with all of the courses so that anyone who wants to contribute can. Begin “Project Golf Course,” heh...

My personal list (subject to updates): Royal Melbourne (Either course) (AU) Wolf Creek (NV) Barnbougle (AU) And a couple of personal requests: Jade Dragon Snow Mountain Golf Club (China): Requested because it’s the longest course in the world and I bet I could make a lot of PGA players angry with it. Traditions (TX) and/or Miramont (TX): Two courses in my hometown that I have had the chance to play and that I think are fantastic courses. I have plans to do Royal Melbourne (composite course) for the presidents cup. Just trying to get a couple of other projects out of the way first. Let me know if you were going to tackle this. I want Melbourne to be mapped because it’s a fantastic pair of courses. It’s yours if you want it and I’d be happy to help with some parts as I played the West Course while I was there. |

Is Royal Melbourne not in the game already? I could've sworn I played it, but maybe not. I wouldn't be able to attest to the accuracy of it either way though.

The west course is, but I played it and it's absolute garbage. This was like a couple of months ago however so unless someone released a new one in that time. |

I live about 30 minutes from Tiger Wood's first course, Bluejack National, and after I finish my first design I had planned on tackling RCR of it as my next project. I'd be happy to map it out on OSM, and have actually started on the first hole already. From what I understand though (newb), I am basically screwed out of being able to edit and design on it in the game myself because I play on the xbox? You PC people have all the fun.

Fishers Island is done. I requested the LIDAR data, but I think it can only be sent in bulk so I may get like an entire coastline worth of .las files. Not sure if I'll get any good data out of it, and I still don't understand how to get EPSG numbers when needed.
