The cause of hooks can be attributed to several things but if you are coming from having been shooting and scoring well to now having random hooks the reason is very likely to be as simple as dragging the top of your thumb on top of the analog stick at the top of the swing when forward swinging. Take can not to drag your thumb surface across the top of the stick, even the slightest bit. This becomes even more accentuated should you swing a little faster than optimum ! Hope this might help,,,, jsut another little food for thought !! This message has been shared by another frustrated TGC Tours competitor who is rapidly developing game scripting paranoia like a few others. Strange things appear to be happening from time to time ? Anyway hope this helps and that we can all continue to enjoy the game , Pugs.. I do know what you mean re. the thumb dragging, and it's something that I've definitely encountered in the past, although I've managed to keep that to a minimum of late. However, I think I've managed to pinpoint what I was doing wrong, although I'm still not 100% comfortable with my driving. I've tried to be slower on the backswing, whilst keeping the downswing at the same fast-ish speed, and it seems to have had an effect. I've always known about holding the club at the top of the backswing for a fraction of a second, but I must've been under the threshold somehow previously. Have had a couple of decent rounds now with minimal hooks, but I always feel like they could return at any moment, due to there being such a seemingly fine line between getting it right or wrong. It was too late to stop the demotion email on TGC Tours, but hopefully the enjoyment will continue from hereon.

Good Christ in a bucket full of Sundays, JUST HIT THE BALL ALREADY!!!
My way of hitting the ball is better than yours. Therefore, I am superior to you in every way. Now go make me a sandwich.

I found that using my thumbs was a horrible idea... i hit so many shanks... now I use my thumb and index finger at the same time... I also don't look at the tv screen anymore... i use the line on the edge of the huge button as my guide to go straight down and up. I kind of do it in a flicking motion... Hard to explain but it works like a champ... i can't remember the last time i hit a shank... It was months ago and I have now gone from CC-D all the way up to Web.com and just finished my first event as a full time member and sitting in 2nd after Round 4 so not too shabby. making a swing change can really improve your game.
