How is everyone feeling about this these days? With the trees and planted objects in 2019, it sounds like there could be a definite amount of necessary work to make the ported course appear as intended. It will probably take a week or two to even understand how long the porting process will take.
Is there anyone who isn't sure about or committed to the new game? If so I may need to start thinking about a TGC2 strategy to go along with a 2019 strategy.

Full speed ahead for me. I might be a week or so late in getting my hands on the new game because of work and other priorities, but I assume almost all of us are taking this plunge together.

I'm happy to power ahead - I've got a beta in place right now but don't really want to press on too much with it until the new game.

Just waiting for the new game so I can plant tree's etc... I'm pretty much at this point too. The course is all laid out and playing OK, but really don't want to touch the planting until I get '19 (which will be still be a Day 1 purchase despite all the tomfoolery over the last couple of weeks). Just doesn't make much sense to me to do that work twice.

I will be a day one purchaser. I thought I'd be further along on my course, but not everything goes to plan. I have however got the most difficult and tedious task out of the way now so motivation should be higher and I should be able to finish this off a few weeks after 2019 is released.

I've been kind of slow on getting mine done, but I've now got 17/18 holes down (plus two of a nine hole pitch and putt I've been playing with), and 4 out of 18 completely done with planting and everything. Since it's mostly grass and bush based, I think it should port relatively easily. It took me a while before I saw a good path forward, but I'm feeling pretty good about it right now, and I'll try and post a few pics later.
Edit: Also, working title is Holyoke Links Club.

Well, I promised pictures, but you guys might just have to settle for a beta. Most of the holes are still on the rough side visually, but the playing surfaces should be 90% there. I hit the point where it's finally playable, and the new game will likely be out in a few days anyways, might as well give everyone a preview. Course name is "Holyokes Links Club - Beta."

Started work again on Briarcliff. Unfortunately, many of my fairways and greens have the wavy lines in them from the port over bug, and I really can't be arsed ripping up the surfaces to fix them - which a shame as I had all the surfaces as smooth as silk in tgc2. I just have four greens left to sculpt, a little bit of tree planting and the clubhouse area left to do. I could probably have this done in a week's time.

Ok, I'm possibly going to be releasing an original version of Briarcliff within the next couple of day's. I've got a massive amount of projects going and I feel I need to get one out of the way ASAP, and to finally get my first 2019 course out. I still have plans for a Briarcliff par 3 course, which will be a collection of mini templates. I'll also be putting out a 'tour' version of Briarcliff once I'm done with the par 3. I haven't seen any specific release windows, so I'm assuming we can just publish when it's done?

Yeah let me think about this more this week so I can clarify my thoughts on how to best approach this series in 2019. It's been a little hectic between work and family trips, so I've just been squeezing in TGC any time I can find a window. I should be able to take a breath next weekend and come up with a good plan.

I am just going to put some thoughts down here that came up this morning. One positive of the little one's nap time during vacation is that there really isn't anything to do, so makes for some good thinking time. Because: 1. This series was always going to be difficult to judge, and I think we started moving away from a judging concept a little bit before 2019 even came out. 2. I am not sure where everyone who initially signed up stands in terms of a) bought 2019 and b) course ported over nicely Thus, going forward I think the concept might look something like this: 1. I will set a publishing deadline, but a very lengthy one. Should give plenty of time for designing, but doesn't let project be on again off again for a year or more 2. There is no judging or contest, so those who participate will do it for the enjoyment/challenge, and the following perks: - Within 1-2 weeks of publishing, the course will be featured in my OG Design Series society
- I will run a concurrent twitter campaign to highlight the course
- You will receive a guest feature on my website for your course. You can write the thing entirely, just talking about design process, inspiration, do a full course tour, whatever you want. Or I can help put something together for you.
- Your course automatically goes into my course ratings page
I will continue thinking this one out during the week. joegolferg please hold on to your course for another 1-2 days, and we will set something up to coincide with my society. I will also put together a new thread for this series to reduce the clutter and make sure each release gets plenty of spotlighting.
