I started a new course and would like to get some feedback. Hopefully these pictures come through OK. I had to enter the links from facebook. If there is a better way I to upload pics, I would love to hear. I have not come up with a name for this course yet. I have 9 holes fairly well along. Any feedback would be great (Good, bad, ugly)
Those pictures look ok to me, nothing fancy but the most important thing, nothin that screams "Fix me". My main suggestion maybe would be lowering a bit the 9th fairway or raise a bit the green so you can show the player the whole complex

Thanks for the feedback. Yes, I definitely need to get more creative. I'm starting to look at the work others more closely. I will look at 9 a bit closer. Still working on finishing that one. I also need to look at how others do plantings. I am terrible at plantings. Thank you again fro taking time to look.

No, I did not mean the course is lacking creativity. I simply meant that to my eye you seem to be focusing on the golf course itself. I think the first part is making the golf course play good, the aesthetics are secondary IMO

Ahh, OK. I'm picking up what your laying down!! I'll get some more work done and post some photos as I go. Thanks again!!
I was hoping to get a little feedback.. Back to the drawing board I guess.
Sorry for the delay, I’ve had my nose buried in my contest course for the last month trying to finish it up.
Honestly, the first thing that jumped out to me is that your sculpting looks tremendous for a new designer. There are people who take hundreds of hours in the software before they finally get good at using the tools.
Planting is another thing that takes time, but I agree with pablo, design a good golf course first. Architecture is key, so if you get that right, you can always beautify it later.

Keep it up!
Thank you very much for your comments. That means a lot!!! I guess all the videos I have watch from the top designers have paid off. I'll be posting some more photos here shortly. I took Pablo's advice about lowering areas to give a full view of the hole. It is starting to turn out nice, I think.

Ya I can only really agree with what the guys are saying above. I always rushed the process when I started in the designer and ended up with courses that were shodily sculpted which ruined the aesthetics that I was focussing on.
So just keep working on a course that plays well, offers some risk/reward strategy options etc. Plays well essentially means that you dont have tricked up greens, I like greens that are tough but fair. No weird or ranfom holes that you cant play out of etc, they just frustrate people l.
Planting comes over time, I hadnt a clue how to do it properly at the start but as you build more courses, play more courses from top designers youll begin to get a feel for it.
Course looks nice so far, keep working awah at it.
Dude, hole 4 is a fantastic view from the tee! From what I can tell in these photos, you have a natural eye for this, so I think you'll catch up quick once you have the hours in the designer. Great stuff!

I like the central fairway bunker on #5 there. It looks like the pin position will dictate whether to go left or right. You might try moving the tee back a bit since it looks like if I'm playing tour clubs I can blow a driver over the bunker unless it's into the wind. It'll also make the second shot a bit longer, which makes approaching from the right angle even more important. That's just a suggestion--only incorporate it if you think it makes the hole better. Very nice work so far!

Thank you for the feedback. I am taking more time on this one, as I am realizing all of the flaws in the past. I have 2 courses published that were definitely rushed. The second one (Genross National) was a bit better than the first, although I used auto generate for most. I did go back and add to it and did a lot of planting and sculpting. After publication, I noticed a lot of issues with the greens and pin placements on the back 9. I plan to go back and fix at some point. Anyway, I'm rambling. Thank you for the feedback. I will keep on keeping on and hopefully I'll have something worthy of approval someday!!

Thank you. I am pretty happy with this view. I need to just get the green tweaked a bit and I can probably call this hole finished.

Ahh, yes....Funny you should say that. I have been looking at this for some time since I posted. The left side definitely gives the better angle to the green and takes out the bunkers for the most part. The right side is more generous but has more angle. And yes, the Tour driver blows right over that bunker (pissing on it as it passes over!) so, that will be getting an overhaul. Probably reconfigure to make the left side a bit more narrow of a chute for more risk. I am also not 100% happy with the look, it does not look natural enough for me. Thanks so much for your feedback.
Is there a way to test play with wind?? Everytime I do a test play it only gives me maybe 2 mph winds.
stevehal20: Demonondalinks ..cheers mate.. I have my game swing and setup for Master. so playing a Master tour should not change my swing and Rhythm in my way of thinking? correct me if im thinking wrong

Demonondalinks: your tempo window for perfect is smaller each level you go up there for making it harder to obtain a perfect tempo consistently

stevehal20: surely for those who play with controllers it doesnt change at all?

stevehal20: Can anyone here tell me why my swing dynamics change when i play master or above? I play with a mouse on PC and my swing is perfect tempo. why does it change so badly when i go up a level or two?

meunier33: I always find some way to blow promotion points the week after I get them

sroel908: Nope, like you said...default is whatever the designer sets the green speeds to. That can be any number from 104 to 186.

meunier33: I thought default meant exactly between moderate and fast
May 13, 2024 19:42:14 GMT -5
sroel908: Exactly, 158 is the designer-set default speed for Pine Lake CC (Michigan).

meunier33: The default for each course is what the designer puts it at
May 13, 2024 13:29:17 GMT -5
meunier33: 158 is not a usual default speed for greens in CC though
