So I got to close out the last two months of the season on the bench getting in maybe 4 at-bats of pinch hitting while my skills were dropping. Contract time the offer me a contract as AAA starter. I might not have minded this had they sent me back to AAA instead of not using me at all, but now screw you White Sox. My agent is looking into secretly finding a trade for me.

Don't have the game, XB1 here, come on Charlotte is a beautiful town in the summer and our stadium is first class and the BBQ in the state can't be rivaled anywhere. In all serious though, this thread more than any had me almost considering buying a PS4 just for this game and then The XBOX was announced and I am again torn.

In all serious though, this thread more than any had me almost considering buying a PS4 just for this game and then The XBOX was announced and I am again torn. Turns out that after signing me as the AAA starter once spring training was over they decided I'd be better off staying in Chicago as a bench warmer. That's a smart way to develop your young prospects. I wish the manager would sit down and have more talks with me because I want to bring the sass. Oh no, what are you going to do? Bench me? Oh wait.....send me down to the minors where I'll actually get to play? Trade me to a team that might actually use me properly? I'm always surprised by what a system seller MLB is for Playstation. Guess it is a top notch game each year and the only real option if you want baseball.

Just got the platinum trophy for the game. Not very often I platinum a sports game so I'm happy with it even if it was an easier trophy list than year's past. Platinum trophy #33 for the record.

Well my agent came through for me and I'm packing my bags and leaving Chicago to move to Chicago. I've been traded to the Cubs.

I decided to do a sim franchise, just a little something where i can team/roster build for fun. I play the games in Quick Manage mode so i can monitor performances and also control who is playing, the bullpen, etc. Kind of a fun thing as a "chill out" deal.

I played a bit of that, at least to get the trophies but I may go back to it at some point. It'd be nice to GM the Mariners to their first ever championship.

I've all but left my pitcher in the dust. They introduced some weird mechanic for the full analog pitching where, if you get rattled, your target release point indicator is hidden and you totally have to guess when to release the pitch. I'm kind of OK pitching from the wind-up when this happens, but if someone gets on base, I cannot get anything where I want it from the stretch and end up tossing up meatballs.
So I've been focusing on my shortstop with the Marlins. After struggling after my September call-up and early in the next season, I discovered the "Plate Vision" attribute, and now I'm raking. I'm hitting over .350 and am tied for the league lead in doubles.
Met and National pitching have my number, but I am crushing the Diamondbacks and Phillies.

A couple of updates later, SD Studios has gotten rid of that stupid pitching mechanic, so I'm back on the mound. After floundering through the first two months of 2020 as a middle reliever, I've been traded from the Pirates to the Twins and have been placed into the Minnesota rotation. The team is terrible, but at least I can earn more training points pitching 6 innings or so every 5 days than I can by getting in 2 or 3 innings a week.
My shortstop continues to pound out hits in the middle of the Marlins lineup, but they're terrible too. I should be hitting 3rd, in front of Stanton, but I'm batting cleanup instead. Through the second week of May, I'm up to a half-dozen home runs.

So I created my rtts guy as a LF, 2 contact, 3 power, 4 fielding, 2 arm, 4 speed, and got him drafted to the Cubs (lucky me). The first month I dominated AA, with an average about .390 going into the April 26 game. I start the game off with a lazy fly ball to the right-center gap and it starts drifting away -- but the fielder dives and misses, and with my 78 speed I end at third; bit of a fluke but it's my first triple of MLB 17. Next AB (I'm playing DH this game so no fielding) I get one straight down the middle and send it much more convincingly into the left center gap. The game was at this point not in our favor and mine were the only two hits as we were down 5-1 in the 4th. Well, that definitely changed, as I got back into the box later in the 4th and added a single. The game is now 8-5, and by the time I return in the 6th the lead is narrowed to 8-7. Anyway, I know that I have a single, double, and triple, but I also know that I have very little power and 0 home runs. I'm only looking for a high fastball and let 3 pitches by for a 1-2 count. Then, the fourth pitch is up and it isn't dipping, so I say "screw it" and give the thing a power swing. 423 feet and a few dead scoreboard pixels later, and I've gotten my first homer in the 2017 game as well as my first ever cycle on any baseball game. So far the best gaming moment of the year. The icing on the cake was that the game's 'storyline' included a call from the GM about it. Yearly I am amazed by the depth of the single player in this game and the rtts is pretty much the only reason I still have a PS4. I only wish I had the time to see a rtts career through on one game's cycle. Been a while since I've even thought of this thread but guess what? Second year of my career and I have a second cycle, this time in AAA. After getting traded to the Giants and starting with a 'mediocre' .260 line in the Majors they decided to send me down at the All-Star Break. And the game decided that my middling rookie year deserved a demotion in my player's potential. Anyway, I've dominated AAA to a .380+ first month and I guess always being in the starting roster is an upgrade.

Hi all.
Was wondering if anyone knows if they update the older versions (mainly the rosters for teams) once a new version of the game comes out?
I know the 18 version comes out in 7 weeks or so. Basically just deciding to get 17 or to wait.

Basically just deciding to get 17 or to wait. I know that in the past they've shut down the servers for the old game within a month or so of the new game coming out. There was some backlash so I'm not sure if they still do it that quick or not. Either way they haven't updated the rosters since the end of the playoffs so I'd say their support for this game has ended.
