Very early calculations but seems the watchersafezone is at -9 already. Without doing my usual maths which will follow later my early prediction is -7 will make it! Which means either my 9 footer that rolled over the hole on the 36th will cost me by a shot

This means an even 2nd round will be enough for me. Do I play it safe and go for a no risk par approach or go all out to try to get a high finish?

Dean the winds are very strong in round 2 so I wouldn't go nuts. You're probably going to find that just making par will be difficult enough. Good luck!

Round two started the way round one ended, a good approach left my ball in a position where birdie was possible, not definite but possible, I missed the putt for a par start. Chances will be few and far between so every putt is going to matter. The long par fours are going to be difficult in the wind, I left myself a thirty four foot putt for birdie on the second and came so close to making it, my ball hit the left hand side of the cup and rolled away, such a good effort but still a par. I misjudged my pitch shot to the green on the third, did not make the green at all which was disappointing as three was a hole where a shot could be picked up, another par. Another difficult par four followed, was hard to judge what shot to play, I made the green, was sixteen feet behind the hole left with a ackward downhill putt. I could not take the chance of going for birdie, had to play safe and take the par. The first par five of the day and a chance to pick up a shot, middle of the fairway from my drive, my approach though was not good, I tried to counteract the wind to much and plugged in the bunker on the left hand side. My bunker shot was good, my ball rolled to within eight feet and a straight putt brought a birdie, made it hard for myself but got there in the end. I was very happy with my tee shot on six, eleven feet short but I don't think I could have done any better, I was again rewarded with a relatively straight putt to go two under. After two good shots to the green, it was disappointing to find myself off the green on seven. My approach did find the green but just did not have enough to roll up the slope and back it came, a foot or so more and I would have been close to the hole, but it was not to be, a safe par. The eight was as tough a hole as I have played in a while, it just was not possible to reach the green in two. I was just over thirty yards from the flag, a poorly judged flop shot left me with a difficult fifteen foot breaking putt and with my putting lately, had bogey written all over it so it was with surprise and delight I watched my ball curl around at the last second to drop for a excellent par. I found myself facing another difficult putt on the ninth, twenty feet this time with even more break than the last, I missed by a fair bit leaving one of those tricky little four footers than can destroy a round, thankfully it dropped to leave me two under after nine, a good front nine, now let's see what will happen on the back nine.
What I did not want to see at the start of the back nine was over six hundred yards into the wind. I played the hole well so it was hugely disappointing to just come away with par, seven inches, that was the difference between birdie and par, my birdie putt was agonisingly close but close is not good enough and I have to put that down as a missed chance. Eleven was also a matter of inches, my approach bounced a couple of inches in front of the flag, missed the flag and rolled thirty feet away, my birdie putt was good but again just not good enough, missing left by a couple of inches. I won't call that a missed chance though, it was a good par on a difficult hole that was nearly a bit better. I followed that with another good par, I was reading the wind well, my ball was heading in the right direction, stopping it was another thing though and that was mainly down to conditions, maybe I was hitting it a little to hard but at times, it was the only way to make the green. Finding the fairway was vital on thirteen, with it narrowing as it got closer to the green, it was just as easy to find the rough or bunker as it was to find the fairway. I got it right and left myself a eighty yard pitch to the green, I was a little cautious, I did not want to overrun it in the strong tailwind so I found myself about ten feet short, a good putt brought my third birdie of the day. I missed the green on fourteen but was right of the flag in a safe position for to put a chip close which I did for a good par on yet another difficult hole. Caution rather than valour was the play on fifteen, I played very short not expecting to make the green, to give myself a chip for safe par. I came close to messing the chip up when i did not hit it hard enough but my par putt was straight so I got there in the end. A long par four with a tailwind, oh the joy that brought, such a pleasant change from hitting into the wind. Still had to be careful not to over run the ball on approach though, I overran slightly but was more than happy with a eight foot birdie chance which I took to go four under. Back to the headwind on seventeen, no chances were taken, middle of the green, lag close and happily walked away with par, now to bring it safely home. Again, no chances taken, centre of the fairway, centre of the green, centre of the cup, wait, what? Yes somehow I pulled of a birdie on the last with a great twenty foot putt to finish five under.
What can I saw, the best I played in a long time, bogey free and five under, one missed chance and just the once coming close to bogey but a good saving putt. I was not expecting this coming into the round but some smart play, some good play brought rewards. I enjoyed today immensely, not just because of my score, that did help though but because of the challenge, it was tough at times but I stood up well to it. It felt real, every shot had to be thought about, every inch and foot mattered. No matter what happens with the rest of the week, today showed I can still play, and after a bad couple of weeks, it felt damn good. Good luck all.

Dean the winds are very strong in round 2 so I wouldn't go nuts. You're probably going to find that just making par will be difficult enough. Good luck! Yeah, I had heard that. I noticed that my first tee shot had high winds. I'm normally okay with wind but when it gets above 15MPH I struggle somewhat.

hmammoth Great round in challenging conditions! I though I was going to beat you this week but it's in the balance now. I'm looking forward to it and dreading in in equal proportion.

It is going to be tight for me. The winds took me behind the wood shed and whipped my tail.
There are some great scores out there.

Just saw a miraculous 63 was put up on round 2 by the leader. Would be blown away by this, but the high winds already took me off the property...

Looking like another cut missed by one stroke this week. It would be my 6th such tournament. Going to come down to the wire. Maybe those Round 2 winds will help now.

Up on my exemption from CC-A this week. Played OK.. not too thrilled with how many relatively straightforward birdie putts I missed though. Should probably have dropped at least a few more. Looks like I still need to spend more time on the practice greens! Round 1: 61 (-9) Decent round, but let a few easy scoring opportunities slip through my hands. Round 2: 67 (-3) Again, much of the same. Hit a lot of good approach shots, but missed too many putts. -12 through two rounds should put me above the cut line (I hope!), so those missed putts shouldn't come back to haunt me. Hoping I'll have my Web.com card by the end of the week! Good luck everyone!

After the dust settles when round 2 scores are due, I imagine you'll still be in the Top-15. If you manage two solid rounds for your Rd 3 and 4, you may slip inside for a Top 10 on your first Web tourney. Hell, you may even snag an exemption.
Nice shooting so far! Welcome to Web.
