Speaking of kinky, my second round sure felt good. Nine birds and an ace, bogey-free. That's the way the game should be played. And of course just to make sure I stay humble, my third round was a complete roller coaster, up, down, up, down, one under par. Xanax please.

A few observations here about the course regarding the Stroke Index. The first pin set-up finally updated today to include the Stroke Index and I'm always so very excited when this happens because it helps me understand some things as a designer. Here are some things I've noticed now that the stroke index is updated.
-I designed the Par 4 #16 hoping that it would be the most difficult on the course. Not only did I want it to play difficult but I wanted it to look visually intimidating too with the green surrounded by a cliff on most sides. Lo and behold, it sits at #1 on the Stroke Index, validating what I was trying to accomplish. Long downhill approach shots on firm settings will do that though.
-I intended for the 15,16,17,18 sequence to be a tough one. I wanted the first half of the back nine to be relatively light before really hammering people on the final 4. The result on the Stroke Index? 7,1,5, and 18 respectively. So...I got 3 out of 4.
-I was however surprised to see where some of the other holes came in at. Very surprised to see #1 and #10 coming in at 2 and 3 respectively.
-Finally, Par 5's are just so easy on this game. I experiment with different ways to make Par 5's more difficult without making them unfair. So that being said I wasn't surprised to see two of the Par 5's as the easiest on the course (#8 and #18). However I was surprised to see that the other two Par 5's checked in at 12 and 13 (#9 and #11) respectively.
Anyways, didn't know if this info was interesting to anybody else or if any of the other designers on Web actually pay attention to this stuff either when it comes out. Just thought I'd post some observations.

Its been a dream for me since buying the game to have a course indexed unfortunately I've only made 2 worth playing course and honestly my first is horrible and The Penitentiary @ Sand Quentin is very polarising. Hopefully my new course 11 holes complete will break the 300 plays mark! its a good job my scheduling and reviewing isn't to the same standard as my designing haha

Polarising? I quite liked San Quentin. Its the Marmite of Golf Courses I've had certain players play it multiple times and sing its praises mainly as a test of golf and the flavour of it. I've had others rage quit after 3 holes and call it every name under the sun. Personally I love a good test over beauty but each to there own. If I slap a course for 60 or less I don't enjoy it as much as a course I struggle on (probably why I'm still in web haha). And why I picked another of your courses because I'm useless on you greens . My favourite course in Web this year was The Nomad and it got the most complaints .

So if I do make the cut it will be a total score of -23. Must say I'm looking forward to week 34 on Carolina Low GC, definitely some strategic golf required on that one. Hope not many people are clostraphobic as well as some of the hole feel closed in. Should make for an interesting tournament.

North47 unfortunately this will be mrooola 's last web.com course due to the potential backlash of a scheduler putting his own course on tour. Annoying IMHO as this course is brilliant and every course Ola has put out (bar 1) are high quality and deserve a place on tour. #UnderratedDesigner

Agree wholeheartedly Moe but the guy has this strange obsession with trees! He bloody loves 'em! Look at Carolina Low. 1000's of 'em. And most are in the way of fairways and greens. How's a man supposed to play golf on that? I'll answer my own question - "bloody carefully" as I found out the hard way. Ola is probably the only designer in the whole of TGCTours who can force me to play a 6 iron off the tee!

Anyways, didn't know if this info was interesting to anybody else or if any of the other designers on Web actually pay attention to this stuff either when it comes out. Just thought I'd post some observations. Having now played three rounds I've kind of split it in to three parts. The first 6 are tough in my opinion. I've been just trying to not throw any shots away through that stretch, if I reach that nice little par 3 7th at -2 I'm delighted! Then you've got a run of 3 par 5's in 4 holes where if you execute well you can pick up 3 or 4 shots so you're around -6 going in to the last 7 and up and running. The 11th is a completely different hole if you miss the fairway which is quite easy to do, I made what I considered to be a very good par 5 in round 3 which you don't often think on par 5's! Then the stretch is a bit of a mixture - a few birdie chances are there and then a nice par 5 to finish. Main thing is not to panic if you're not picking up birdies early on, the chances come later on. I've loved it, it's a brilliant course. The best thing is when it turned firm and fast I didn't have to aim to bounce it in the rough once and I think I only played one chip in the whole round. Great job fella . Some of my CC friends have played it too and they also enjoyed it. Bring on round 4!
