This is definitely a more imaginative course as has been mentioned by a few of you guys. If the winds are favourable then I think there will be more -40 scores again but if they're not and people also take the risks (and there's plenty of them on this course) when they'd be better off laying up, then it could be -30 at best. This is one where practice first is a good idea as I gambled in practice and it was not paying off! Thinking caps on are a must for this one me thinks.

Certainly a thinking man's course next week. One miss hit will put you into some seriously bad scenarios as the roughs are not forgiving. I actually played pretty well for me and put up a -5! Should've kept to my promise of no practice round because history has said a good practice round leads to a total failure come tourney time haha. Kudos to the designer, well done!

Just for the heck of it, I played the first round of the current PGA tour at Pebble Beach and shot 1 over par on greens at the firmest and fastest settings.
Now mind you, I've never played this course before. Didn't have tons of practice on it like Fossmill. This was a cold quick run through and shot 1 over. I have to sweat my brains out to shoot 1 over on this course.
IMO, this course is harder than Pebble Beach. At least it is for me. Heck, I'd rather play Pebble Beach than this thing. In fact, with practice, I guarantee I can break par by 2 or 3 strokes on Pebble Beach without killing myself, something I can't even begin to do on this thing.
Just saying.

If you prefer Pebble then by all means. Go play that event. I've heard your complaints a few times now. I get it. You think Fossmill is super hard and you can't score on it. You feel this has nothing to do on the CC tour because the course is tougher than the PGA one. I get it. Now let me vent some frustration. You are not some magic measuring stick of difficulty. For me Fossmill is light-years easier than a firm Pebble. PGA is also lighting that course up like a Christmas tree. Fossmill is in my opinion a moderately difficult cc tour venue. It may be classified as a difficult one come the weeks end. Time will tell. I think however we will see winning scores in the -35 - -40ies. That would not reflect the scores of a super duper hard cc tour event. Pebble is an easy PGA event. How big of a difference do you expect between the two? I'd just like to point out that you asked me if I knew that the CC tour was not the PGA for selecting Spirit Mountain. Just saying... Sorry if I come off as overly annoyed. Just woke up and this was the first thing I read. And yeah. It did annoy me.

When the event does. You can press submit score. It will then allow you to late register

I went back and looked over my previous events and picked out a couple of courses that I did really poorly on, including Firestone where I stunk it up to the tune of 27 over for 4 rounds. That's almost 7 over per round. Today, I shot the first round over and shot par. Now I know that's no amazing score or anything but imagine that. A course I couldn't get anywhere near par on, I shot par today. And I didn't even do all that well. Even put one ball in the water. Point is, I've gotten a lot better in just the last month. And that's what I'm going to take with me into the coming events. I know if I just do my best, I'll be okay. I may even get out of E Class someday. Anyway, my goal on Fossmill is just to break par. If I do that, I think I'll be fine. Sorry for being such a crab. Putting it in perspective, I'm a lot better than I was a month ago.

My second round I shot a -4. Again not too bad for me. I started the third round last night and went +2 after 2 so I shut it down (little tipsy). Anyway I'm not going to finish the practice and I'll just start the tourney when it comes online. I'm thinking for my flight (cc e) somewhere in the mid 20s will take it. Good luck everyone

Well, I played my last tuneup for this tour today.
Round 1 - 5 under Round 2 - Par (high winds) Round 3 - 3 under Round 4 - 4 under
Keys To Doing Well In Tourney:
1) Holes 7, 8, 17, and 18.
These are my problem holes. I find I often have to lay up on these holes except for 8 which I never bothered learning to fade around the trees. Shot's too tricky for me so I opt to play safe and go for the patch of green in front, leaving me with a long 2nd shot. Hole 7 is the worst of the 4. If I par it, I'm happy.
2) The Wind
I simply don't shoot well when the winds are kicking. The fairways are too narrow, especially on cross winds. My one round of par, the winds were around 15 mph.
Other than that, just play smart golf.
My goal for Monday is to shoot par for the course. In E Class, I think that'll be good enough to not earn a strike. It's a modest goal and I think it's attainable.
We'll find out on Monday.

I am still really new here, but this is a really tricky course for me. Putting is one of my biggest weaknesses and this course is harder than most for me to read and having to play much more break than the last couple courses we played. I am not sure if it is the faster greens or some more hidden breaks, but it is taking me a lot longer to adjust to. This is also the first course I took notes on during my practice rounds and have a little "tour" book I can consult while playing. I hope it helps as my practice rounds weren't so great

I hope it helps as my practice rounds weren't so great I haven't played the tour events yet, but some of my cc friends have and a lot of them have mentioned the amount of lip outs they've had during their rounds. It could well be that there are very, very subtle breaks around the hole, that don't show up on the grid when playing
