Course is well made, but not my cup of tea. It'll be a struggle for me.

Just unlocked that achievement lol You would think that 800 hours (just broke that milestone today) and about 800 rounds I would have already unlocked that. Comeback Kid Finish an 18-hole course under-par having been +3 or more at hole 9.Not to be outdone...I unlocked the same achievement today on Fossmill

I want to help Even if you lay up to the "not so tough" areas on the fairways on the tougher holes and play for par...you can still score -4 to -6 on this course relatively easily because almost every par 5 is good birdie hole. Laying up is key on this course. I have a long and short option scouted off the tee for all the holes that are not par 3's on this course.

Some of the pin placements in round 2 will be impossible to get into if winds are very heavy from the left.

Some of the pin placements in round 2 will be impossible to get into if winds are very heavy from the left. Played it today with 10-15mph winds and struggled to hit -3 total for the round with crosswinds on some holes. If the winds are up..this one is tight and tough. I also find the wind having some real adverse effects on the ball...almost to the point where it isn't reacting the way it should with the wind that is showing.

Finished another practice tour at 3 under. It's like pulling teeth out there.

Well, here is a microcosm of my problems. not only with this course, but with my game in general.
This is the first 7 holes of my last round at Fossmill.
Hole 1 - 6 footer for birdie - Made Hole 2 - 10 footer for birdie - Missed by 10 inches Hole 3 - 3 footer for birdie - Made Hole 4 - 16 footer for birdie - Missed by 4 inches Hole 5 - 23 footer for birdie - Missed by 4 inches Hole 6 - 6 yard chip for birdie - Missed by 6 inches
I then went into hole 7, which is the first one that I need to lay up on in order to avoid disaster and thus all I can expect to make it par at best. I made green in 3. Had 5 footer for par on a very difficult slope and missed by inches.
So I bogie'd the hole and instead of being 6 under through 7, had I not missed all those shots by inches, I'm 1 under.
That's my game in a nutshell. It's not like I'm all over the course. I am literally missing by inches and it's killing my score. This is on every course I play. Even the ones I score well on, I'm leaving 4 to 6 putts out there that I should have made. All my 8 and 9 under pars could easily be 12 to 15 under if not for inches.
And while this course is not the hardest I've played, it's the most frustrating because I come so close yet can't make more than maybe 1 birdie in 7 holes and constantly fight for par at the end. Finished this round 1 under.
I wish I knew what the secret was to turning all those "missed by inches" into made.
Until I do, I'm just going to be in E Class along with all the new guys. I'll be the oldest rookie in TGC history.
This week can't come and go fast enough.

This was my major issue on 10-12 footers when I started out (towards the bottom ranks last year). I started to treat the game like I do real life situations and give my putts enough pace, if I miss it, to finish about 3' past the hole. It can get a little tricky on downhillers, but not impossible. I feel by doing this, it takes a lot of major bends out of the ends of putts. It may not be for everyone, but it seems to have helped me.
