Interesting thread, this one. Good, let all of these guys walk. It just increases my chances of qualifying for the next Major!

Shaping tee shots due to wind is great golf and some of the better courses force a player to do this. I just hope that course designers start taking into consideration (and the admin) that when the universal wind is live, that there may be rounds played in 15, 18, 20mph winds and the course needs to be able to be played under those conditions. Since the designer can't set the wind speed, it has to be playable in all winds and that means the firmness of the fairways/greens need to be taken into consideration as well.

All courses can be played in any conditions. It may not be easy. And people may not score as well as they would like. But you can play it.
And if everyone is in the same conditions, everyone faces the same challenge.
What more could anyone ask for?

Come on, I'm completely innocent. I'm too bad in this game actually, so I have to use the trees to my advantage!

Personally I thought these trees were placed excellently. If I had a tail wind, not to strong, I would go over these trees and hope to clip the tops to give me a great position to the green. If I had a head wind I wouldn't dare go for these shots. You hope to clip the tops for a great position? Are we really talking about golf or putt putt??

Agree with Wheezer that it's going in the wrong direction a bit with bugs being introduced more than improvements.
But agree with Doyley as well. Despite not being exactly what we want it to be it is still the greatest golf game ever made by far. And - it's not even full price...
Then the bellyaching about courses - there is a difference between being 100% realistic AND feeling realistic. Championship caliber courses from the tournament tees are though - and if that is what TGCT wants to mimic we need courses that feel like that in game. Elmview is an excellent example.

I'm really proud of my 62-62 finish at the U.S. Open- which catapulted me from about 30th to a top-10 finish! Really figured the course out as I kept playing more rounds...and a few lucky long putts didn't hurt!

I am extremely happy with my -21 this tourney.. I beat my best practice session by 4 strokes and my target this tourney was -12.. Yes... I struggled that much on this course and still have no idea how the hell you guys shot so low.. Well done!
Congrats to Gareth Mitchell for a superbly played tournament.. and to Bradley Garcia and Steve Sloan... You guys are consistently the best players on the tour at the moment..

In other news, after 36 holes at the real US Open, -5 is leading compared to -21 in The Golf Club.
As for Tiger Woods, well...lets just say he should denote himself to the Web.com Tour.
Glad I could squeeze in a T-6 finish with -27 under. Didn't think I would be top 10

BT - with the lead tine of creating a course I think few if any designers have considered the wind fix in their design. And even if they did - nothing changes from a course design perspective. There were high winds before and there will still be high winds. Going from the scoring - Elmview is a couple degrees too easy... The two things golf teaches in real life - especially tournament golf - is to be humble (because it always finds a way to throw you off your high horses) and to face the circumstances before you and play the ball as it lies.. Because golf is not a "fair" game - in the common understanding of the word. What does "playable" mean by the way? To me a scoring average of several shots over par for the very elite of this game Is still playable...

Seems my first and final rounds have cost me a shot at the Top 25 but overall pleased i will end up inside the Top 40 - having missed the cut at The Masters & The Players feels nice to put up a solid performance in a big event, and crucially beaten a lot of the guys around me in the WGR so maybe i can get a bit closer to the Top 50.
Congrats to our winner, awesome that a qualifier has won it

Everyone quiet please. We still have a player on the course. Jek Malo is -17 after two rounds.
