This week's event is at Old Course St Andrews: I've just played and recorded my first round, started off brilliantly with some obscenely good approaches, but a bunch of mistakes later in the round meant I ended up on -1, which is pretty standard for me with ultra sim settings Here's the video on twitch:

First event complete, congrats to woody2718 for winning with an impressive -15, with mcbogga in second place on -9. Some interesting stats in terms of the key ultra sim settings (no loft box and no putting marker) from the first event: GIR% Juicy.dangler: 80.56% Turner05: 77.78% Woody2718: 75% Trex187: 64.81% Mcbogga: 62.5% Hammers1man: 52.78% Putts per hole: Mcbogga: 1.57 Woody: 1.61 Hammers1man:1.68 Juicy.dangler: 1.78 Trex187: 1.87 Turnerm05: 1.97 Long putts: Hammers1man: 16% Woody: 13.04% Juicy.dangler: 8.33% Mcbogga: 8.11% Trex187: 2.94% Turnerm05: 0% Fascinating in particular that hammers1man was brilliant with long putting but appalling at making GIR (no offence mate ). Once he gets a better feel for the shortened backswing power timings, his scores will skyrocket for sure. Only time I'll see my name above Woody . I enjoyed putting with marker off and holed some good birdie putts this week, I have no problem reading direction of putts it's all about getting the break just right like the real thing. Really baffles me all the b%&ing over at TST about the putting being unplayable without marker on when clearly it is not. Swing was a bit rusty this week but I'll put that down to going in cold after not playing for two weeks. Hit a couple of 85% in the drink when trying for 90%, that will come with more practice. an 8,9 and 13 didn't help my overall score but really enjoyed it

Really baffles me all the b%&ing over at TST about the putting being unplayable without marker on when clearly it is not. Exactly, the marker is 100% unnecessary for distance control, and once people give it a chance they'll realise that. I think on TST they're going to 'marker only' in any case, so the complaints are even less warranted.

-3 in round one. Good off the tee and putting, atrocious wedge play.
Distance control for putts is way too easy to the point of making the game boring....

And a 73 in the second round. Felt like trickier pins for the second round. Didnt get anything to drop, but hit some really good approaches to get to -1 after 14. Then fanned one OB at 16 (Hate that tee-shot) and made a double folowed by stubbng a chip on 17. Birdied 18 for a +1 round and -2 total. I'm really enjoying this format! The future of TST, Matt10?

I'm not a huge TST fan, but I decided to give this a go because I'm desperately searching for something in this game to keep me playing it Solid round 1, shanked into the bunker on 17 for my only bogey -1 in the 2nd round

I'm really enjoying this format! The future of TST, Matt10 ? Until HB allows societies the option of disabling the loft box and follow cam, it won't be viable for formal competitions sadly. Hopefully they can do this though (can't be too difficult surely), it would really take sim play to the next level. People who aren't willing to try these settings out are seriously missing out! For any lurkers, forget your ludicrous scoring expectations in the game, these settings make birdies feel extraordinary, whether because of a phenomenal approach shot or a fantastic putt that you're never fully sure of until it drops in the hole. Compare that to the absurd situation we get with normal play in this game, where people can quite rightly say "argh the god damn beads were lying on that 12ft putt!!" because they knew exactly what was needed to hole that putt. You don't get that with no marker and no grid that's for sure lol, your heart's in your mouth with any putt longer than 8ft These were my round scores for the Fritzl event: 71 71 70 70 Very tough grind especially on the greens, and I'm legitimately happy with finishing -6 after 4 rounds. Meanwhile, last time I played a round on the Old Course with aids on, I scored -14 and felt annoyed that I left a few out there! Just shows how your sense of achievement in this game changes depending on expectations.

If the upcoming spin and trajectory tuning is good this may become even more awesome.

Finished this up last night. Really enjoying playing this game this way. I didn't have my gap wedge for the first round which hurt me on a few shots had to try and take some off the pitching wedge which is tough to do. First two rounds the putter was pretty cold but heated up a bit the last two. I went E, -2,-5,-7 to finish up at -14. Here's my final round.

Played the final round. Started off really hot but then cooled off and had a lot of putts burning edges and approaches just missing the spot for a flattish putt. I thought I had a chance to give Woody a run there for a while, but no. Probably going to start steaming these. I did have this little putt for eagle on the 5th (sorry for the TST plug, its on by default in my streaming software)....

This week's event is at Pebble Beach. All settings are default except wind which I've set to R1 high, R2 moderate, R3 low, R4 high. Just a reminder, don't forget to turn off follow cam before you start (though you can change this in-round after your first shot if you notice it's on) as it's easy to forget this.

Managed an ace thanks to a beautifully nailed 90% power backswing
