Retired? F'ya. Who cares. I can't get myself to design for no reason anymore, it takes something like this to get me motivated. So, with Griff's watch in mind, here goes my attempt at a Kiawah inspired course. My style of design this go around: blank flat canvas with no default nothing. Tropical Theme, no palm trees though. Very minimal planting except for maybe rocks when im nearly done with all the other design work. Course will feature lots of sculpting to be displayed everywhere you can look for a rich but rugg ed coastal course. first hole, not necessarily hole 1 70 minutes work in so far. stay tuned for more.

Hey Taste, can you twitch/youtube a bit on this as you elevation work is so good. I always pick up a few tips while watching you. Looking good. I like the minimalist look so far.

Not even sure if this meets the definition of a "Work in Progress" photo, but - despite how bad I already feel about my yet-to-be-built course based on tastegw 's photos - figured I'd share one of the holes I've framed up for testing (thanks again scampi00 for the method, though far from perfected by me ): Hopefully at some point I can figure out how to put together screenshots like Taste's, those look absolutely amazing man. This is a fun thread for me given it's my first time trying my hand at this, so forgive me if it's a bit amateurish...

Kiawah is pretty much the only course I played on TW11 or 13...you can not go wrong emulating that masterful track, Jeremy.
This looks absolutely great so far. Your sculpting is top notch. Saguaro may be the best sculpted course anyone has created up to this date for TGC but this new one looks like it could be even better.

Thanks man, that's very kind of you to say. It's always a nice boost to morale to get some positive encouragement much appreciated. And yea, was going for the classic "split fairway, risk vs reward" par 5 with varying lengths and angles of approach to the green (angle of green to determine depth of green on 2nd shot). We'll see how it works out, it took forever to frame up the textures around those shoreline bunkers halfway decent so I didn't get as far as I'd wanted, will be working on the green complex today. My fear is the hole will be too arcade-ish, but I guess I'll just have to see how it plays when 100% complete.

By the looks of these pictures, you can obviously tell this is an auto gen course. You would benefit from some tutorials on how to design.

Curious question Jeremy.
Is this thread intended as your contest wip-thread or is the thread intended for contest wips?

I couldn't decide which it was either Yeah I didn't want to hijack it if it wasn't intended as a general thread so just wanted a clarification I also liked the idea, although I guess the general thread would work too perhaps
