Hi guys, I mentioned earlier that I was going to put out a sheet with some tips and tricks and calculations I do to get around the course. Been so busy with other things that I haven't had time to do it up as well as I wanted. In time I'll likely add videos and rejig the numbers to match the videos so you can read it and then watch it which will hopefully help you out - I'll talk my thought process out in the videos so you can see what's going through my head prior to each shot. That is still in the pipeline, so for now I thought I would release my notes. My hope with this is that there are some nuggets of information that could help you lower your score and make the tours more competitive. There may be other methods I don't use, so feel free to discuss below as well. TGCT - Tips & Tricks
Note: There are four tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet which you can browse through different shot types as well as a loft chart. To read the loft chart - there are 5 columns, the standard club carry and then columns 1 through 4, each which represent the next grid line on the loft adjustment grid in-game (4 being max loft). There is nothing on that loft chart you couldn't do within the game with a little time and math - so it's just easier to have it done and with you. In time you'll likely only reference it once or twice a round as you get used to yardages you're comfortable with. Any questions please post below and I'll do my best to answer.

Saw this, was skeptical... first shot, 3 ft from the hole with 84 yards out, 6 mph wind in my face, -14 ft elevation... might not of made the Champions Tour had I known this information! Tons of help man, never could understand elevation changes, etc. Now of course, this is all dependent of a good shot, right reads (calculations).

So, that's where I've been going wrong!!! A lot to digest there but a real eye opener Doyley........ Thanks. Couple of things: 1/. Didn't quite understand your side winds / click method (hopefully a video will expand on what you mean). What does your golfer do on screen while you are flicking/clicking?.... turning smoothly into direction or stuttering into position. (hope I've explained what I mean correctly)? 2/. That is some sand wedge you have in line 20 of the chipping tips!!! My printer is busy stealing your magic as I type this. Thanks again.

Great stuff! Appreciate you taking the time to do this! One question.....anyway to guesstimate how much of an influence a sidehill lie will have? It seems minimum but sometimes it catches me by surprise and seems to send the ball rocketing off trajectory.

It's definitely not smooth. 2. Nice catch... 32 years is a long way for a SW to go!

I'm all for helping everyone become more competitive and I'm pleased to see Doyley is humble enough to share his skill. That's a sign of a true champion. So please don't anyone take this post the wrong way.
All that hard work taking the time work this info out starting from the early access days is now on a silver platter. It feels like a magic trick has been exposed.
At least this was done after Q-School so the guys who put in the time to figure this stuff out are where they're supposed to be.
Now that we all have this... Practice it... GAME ON!

For most it's just 1 or none or compensate with a fade/draw.

While I've tried to simplify it as much as possible I'm sure that most of the top tier players take what I've got here and fine tune it to the nth degree. Plus you still have to be able to putt

This is so nice of you to share this information Doyley, really public spirited of you. It is good to see that the number one player is prepared to help others out.
Personally I just store what I have learned in my head, if I were to start using charts I would lose the feel for the game I have right now. I do use mathematics all the time but the need for feel is so important in this game that you might get bogged down with over analyzing every shot. For instance, if I have a downhill putt that is say 9 inches downhill, I would normally putt the marker back to about 7 inches before the hole (as you have recommended), but if I look beyond the hole and the slope is continuing and getting steeper away from the hole, I would move the marker back further still so the putt doesn't get away from me too much if I miss, I have been known to putt the ball off the green when not taking into account these little nuances. Little things like that come into play on a variety of shots, where maths isn't the only solution. So I guess that experience and feel are just as important as mathematics?
