Not going to happen for Season 3 but the ground work is being layed for when TGC2 is released. Maybe we shud have 200 different tours so everyone feels like they can win. A discussion for another thread

Well no, they won't. But hopefully the people b%&ing about them every week will shut up never heard them ppl but when ppl start gettin backspin on their 3 iron i see the issue This new rule does not punish players that tend to loft their clubs a lot. It actually will help them. Let's assume we have a pretty average course with no super-crazy slopes, and pins not tucked 1ft behind a bunker, and the wind is not 20+... I'd be pretty disappointed if I don't land my (lofted) approaches within 5-8ft on any given hole. Always provided that I'm doing my calculations right... and I'm not drunk. I'm still not sure what my opinion really is on this upcoming change. I've never been a big fan of firm setups, but I learned to adjust to them. As matters stand, I think we will still have the same amount of members moaning & crying about this and that. It will just be another reason, and not firm setups this time. But I might be totally wrong...

Just my 2 cents, I love it firm and fast. I find it less productive when I thrash away it can lead to disappointment . Not just for me but for my wife. I do like to have a softer landing for my balls but some would rather a constant firm thud on every stroke .
Anyway just my morning thoughts. So what are we discussing in this thread ? I don't want to read back!

I still don't play firm courses very well but don't mind playing them provided there's a degree of fairness to the setup of the golf course. I've often looked at a shot towards a firm green and thought 'what the hell am I supposed to do here?'. That's the hole when most of the top players somehow make the green or will flop or chip in, I make par or bogie!! I think having a mix of setups is a good thing for now and with TGC2 on the horizon, that may change everyone's game and outlook tenfold in any case. When can I pre-order by the way ;-)

It appears that I'm in the minority, but I have no problem with firm/fast greens though my scores might suggest otherwise. Ghosts, I enjoy playing with them especially with turn order enabled. It breaks up the monotony, helps facilitate learning and gives me a chance to sip on some whiskey and puff on my cigar. There is a level of skill involved that cannot be attained even from watching ghosts; and to suggest that the top 25 are only there because of ghosts is asinine.

Just like this and any other rules they are subject to change. I enjoy the more difficult courses as I suggested a firm course once every 4 weeks for the higher tours. I'm ok with whatever is decided.
Once TGC2 comes out it sounds there will be a slider scale for green firmness which will make for a lot more variety as well.

Just give Sweeney his own tour - problem solved
Kidding of course, totally agree a Super Tour is a bad idea.
I like playing in full fields
I like seeing new names occasionally at the top of the leaderboard
I like missing cuts when I play poorly
I like crossing over and playing against different names
Playing against the same 30/50 guys every week would soon get old

Playing against the same 30/50 guys every week would soon get old I get this and agree for the most part. I'm not involved with HB or TGCT but the thing they have to weigh, in my opinion, is the happiness of the masses. The concept is to get the most people possible playing and enjoying the game and tours. If anyone outside the top XXX feel like they have no shot are you accomplishing the goal or are only the top XXX getting what they need from the tour? That's the balance they need to strike. I've seen many complaints recently that folks don't like not being able to compete for a win or top 10/20, so it's something the guys at HB and TGCT need to consider at the very least. I like having to work at it. Not everyone does, and since this is a video game and not real life the same rules don't always apply. Just my thoughts.

FWIW I don't think a super tour of the top 100 would be all that bad with the bottom 10% or so rotating out at times to make room for those in the other tours to move in. Might be OK.
