Have a Happy 4th of July everyone. Just finished up 5 hrs more of J.W. University G.C. It's turning out to be absolutely what I wanted. Still a ways to go but getting closer.

A typical J.W. course opens with a long Par-4. this one is no different with a 494 yard par-4 right out of the gate.

Jason, I am sorry but a par 4 of almost 500 yards as an opening hole is not usually a good idea. Let the golfer ease into their round rather than forcing a driver into their hands on the opening tee shot. Scott Macpherson wrote a great article about the ideal opening hole that you should definitely check out... www.scottmacphersongolfdesign.com/media-releases-more/articles/the-ideal-opening-hole/

I personally think that a long par 4 to open is fine if the course is supposed to be hard. Take Kapalua for example: The 1st hole is a 520 yard par 4, and it's one of the best opening holes on the PGA tour IMO. I think that a course should start hard and end hard, unless you're trying to make an easy course. This of course is just my opinion.

Check out Hole 1 at the Sony Open here in Hawaii.... I think it's around 490 and one of the toughest par 4's on tour.

Also guys remember I have the greens set at Super Soft so you can fire darts even from 207 out. You guys will enjoy this course when the winds are down i promise
