Wags:
Open this week 16th hole is a good example. Those ghosts will sometimes carry that water. You are better to figure it out for yourself. Some designers me included will place that carry for the water with only a certain amount of tail wind and sometimes for only a fully lofted driver. So even if the ghosts are displaying accurately, they may have had a slight tail wind, they may have fully lofted the Driver, they may have actually dunked the ball in the water.
Again, I'm sticking with follow those ghosts to your, OK maybe only sometimes, peril.
I'm not really saying don't practice the course, I'm not, I will still, I'm saying either pitch the landing notes altogether, or use them only as a starting point, or better yet make sure you record the wind condition when the note was taken.

Again, I'm sticking with follow those ghosts to your, OK maybe only sometimes, peril. Oh I never use ghosts when I play. They're too distracting. You're on the green making a putt and suddenly a ball comes flying out of nowhere. Totally screws with my game. Turning off ghosts was the best thing I ever did. No, I was referring to just being aware that a hole has a water carry and I need to have some idea of how I'm going to play it. Ultimately, I'm still going to base my final decision off the conditions I'm presented with on tourney day, and in most cases I do play it safe, but I hate being blindsided by a hole where, on first sight, I have no clue how to play it. Again, it only happens to me on those very difficult holes because I'm still not that great at this game. Figuring out the tough holes on the fly (elevated tees to winding, twisty fairways as an example) is not something I want to have to do cold. This is why I set up multiple practice tours that hopefully give me different wind conditions (blowing out, blowing in) for each hole so I know how to play each hole under those general conditions. Again, 99% of the holes on these course, meh, it just screws me up to get too familiar with them. So if I play a course once and there are no problem holes, just your basic stuff, I will probably never play the course again until tourney day. I will do much better that way.

And there is one other reason I will play a course at least once. To find out if the greens are firm or not. The firmness is not always posted in the course description, which is why I think HB should definitely include that with the speed on the stats screen. I don't want to find out the greens are firm on the first hole and possibly lose a stroke because of it.
So if nothing else, I at least have to play one hole just to find out what the firmness setting is.

I'm not big on people playing with blinders on.

Wish I could hire you as my personal instructor but I probably couldn't afford your fees. lol.

No need, believe me I crapped the mother load in this thread. Anyone choosing to bother will soon be chasing me down on the leader boards and I look forward to that. I use my method for putting and have been getting consistently better and better. Like I said in the thread, it's a starting point, but I'm learning more and more each day of where to finish and when. Its all about smart practice IMHO. You can play golf courses till your thumbs are blue, that will only get you so far. Practice smart, play better golf. Its just really that simple.

Can you set it to never have those ghosts? They are distracting.
Edit: I found where to turn off, I wish I looked earlier haha. Those ghosts were annoying at times.

boomboom thank you. Your putting tips have made a huge difference when I can see the flat line. Sometimes it's hard but when I can see it clearly, I make almost every putt. It's almost scary. The method is more precise than my line speed method by just enough, especially on the longer putts. In fact, the longer the putt, the more precise it is. In addition, the pitch tips are making a big difference too. I shouldn't have trouble on elevated greens and big slopes down to the fairway. So thanks again.

Can anyone explain the flat line in a little more detail? I just can not for the life of me figure out what you mean by this. Maybe a pic or video?

On my PC screen it is extremely hard to catch but when I zero in on it, putts are scary accurate. Maybe I can post a couple of screen prints before (non flat) and after (flat) on the more obvious ones with arrows pointing that might illustrate it a little better. Don't feel bad about not getting it. Analyzing a "flat line" depending on your screen resolution is not so easy. Let me see what I can come up with.

Unfortunately, the screen prints don't include the grid lines. I have no idea why not and how players are able to upload screen prints that show all the details. Totally confused.

@wagtunes, use the Steam screenshot tool instead of TGC's screenshot tool.
You'll have to check your Steam settings to see the key that takes screenshots. Once done, go into Steam and go to the View menu, select screenshots, and then choose "Show on Disk". That will take you to where Steam saves screenshots.

I made this video on flat line putting. I hope you can follow it. I used arrows at the beginning, to show where line is "jagged" and then after adjusting to show where it is "straight". The resolution isn't the best but hopefully it'll be good enough. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks for taking the time to show me where to be looking for the lines. I wasnt even sure where the lines were supposed to be.
