Thanks for the vids man, most useful. I have to design on the Xbox and would love to know how you do the "paint technique" on it. I've tried to do it smoothing edges of bunkers but they don't look any different after I've gone round them. So it either doesn't work on Xbox or I'm doing it wrong. Before anyone pipes up, I know it's probably the latter ?

I've only designed on the PS4 and PC but the GNCD is the same on every platform so it should work. That said, I personally never use that technique for sculpting.

Fairways and light rough: How to get that perfect first cut: Twitch or YouTubeAlso, if anybody out there has a different method please post here. I'm always looking to learn new techniques. Thanks for doing this, never knew it was so easy to make it look that good. I ripped up all the fairway and light rough from the 1st hole on my latest redesign and got the new fairway down in less than half an hour, will do the same for the other 3 holes I've completed. Gave me a break from the 10+ hours I've spent at the beginning of the week doing rock work around a couple of the holes lol.

Took a couple detours. A lot going on lately but I hope to get this done in the next day or two. I just don't want to half ass it.

Meant to post this before, but sometime last week I watched the bunkers video. I was expecting it would take maybe 3 or 4 minutes but actually you covered it in a lot more detail than I thought there was and it was really interesting to see your process. Excellent use of the soft brushes and your bunkers do look excellent . Definitely a must watch for pretty much any designer, experience or otherwise

On the topic of "painting" surfaces, perhaps the master himself, Mr. reebdoog could post a short video of himself at work? Also, if tastegw is still kicking around I would love to see a video of his technique as well. If not, I know he has done one in the past and I can dig around for it.

Below is the vid of Tastegw explaining his method of building fairways. I've used this on a few courses I've done and once you wrap your head around the process it really is the most efficient method. It was particularly useful on the RCR I worked on.

I do a mix these days. I start with a flat plot and use the red brush to cut out my bunkers mostly... there isn't really a decent alternative to getting a near perfect circular void in the fairway. Can remember having to carefully place fairway around bunkers trying to get it to look smooth... nasty!

If I'm going to make a "no first-cut" fairway, the taste's technique works like a charm. Otherwise it's like a kick in the butt
