Well I guess I'll kick this off this week guys and gals before that pesky upstart from The Euro Tour opens the thread and posts a winning total. Winds were reasonably calm up to about 7-8mph max I think. Those familiar with Bigcats other courses ( and there are a fair few) may get quite a surprise. IMO this course is one of his tougher but hey, may just be me and maybe this course just isn't one that suits my game. I normally love his courses but following a bit of practice this last week I've got a love/hate relationship with this course. Having said all that I was satisfied with a bogey free 64 (-7) to start. Good luck out there peeps! Oops - forgot to put "spoiler" in the title. Have asked Doyley to fix. Sorry!

Would be nice to make the cut this week but i'm not overly sure whether -16 at the halfway point will get it done I like this course though, in terms of Rds 1 & 2 it's probably the most 'difficult' out of the 4 web events that I have played in so far, good luck everyone!

I think -16 after two is a very respectable score. Will be interesting to see what others are scoring over the next few days.

Ha ha it's all good fun though I love the smack talk to be honest.

Did my rounds on Saturday. Got off to a flyer in rounds 1 &2 but struggled with the strong winds in round 3 and left 3/4 shots out there on round 4 too to finish at -32. My rounds:
-10 -12 -3 -7
If anyone wants a laugh they can follow my ghost on PS4 during round 2. I had a couple of the most luckiest landings on the par threes to avoid getting wet.
I think I'll be missing those all important exemption berths with that. I'm sure the magic number of -40 will be the target so good luck to everyone and I'm looking forward to seeing what people score.

With so many great community run events going on, getting practice in for tours is falling by the way side. I have been fighting the cut line the last couple of weeks, will l lack of practice bring more of the same, time to find out. The size of the green caught me out on the first hole with my ball bouncing from one end to another, my chip looked good, just missing before it rolled away from the cup, a poor putt and I started with a bogey, not a good start. I took a little bit more care on the second, playing pretty safe to make sure I got that shot back. I under hit my approach on three leaving myself a long birdie putt, the putt itself had so little break that it allowed me to be aggressive and go one under. I was still struggling to put the ball close on my approaches and four was no different with the ball going of the back of the green. I got lucky again though, my chip shot was straight and birdie made. Hole five scared me, I took no risks played well wide and long to make sure I avoided the water, like the previous hole, this one came down to a chip, it was longer with break this time, so watching the ball drop was satisfying. While I can chip well, my flop shot can be poor, as was proven on the sixth, not getting a birdie on such a short par four was disappointing. After par on seven, I finally put a approach close to the cup leaving a tap in birdie, I will have to admit, luck came into play again, I was in the heavy rough and got a lucky bounce with the ball rolling close. I finished the front nine with another short birdie to go into the turn at five under.
The tenth found me within five foot of the cup with a line I could just not read, I spent awhile staring at the green hoping for a revalation which never came, such a short putt but double break, just a par. The same thing happened on eleven with the same result, my ball seemed to be stopping right on a break line, confusing the hell out of me, two great birdie chances missed. The birdies had dried up and disaster on thirteen with a double bogey, I played the hole badly from start to finish, tried to hard to get the ball close to the pin with the opposite effect and just like that, a good round turned into a bad one. Anothe bad par followed before I pulled one shot back on fifteen, my heart was in my mouth even then as I came so close to hitting the water but happy to take the birdie. I got the second dropped shot back on sixteen, it was good to get them back so soon but I get the feeling that that double is going to come back to haunt me. Then out of the blue, my round was alive again, at first, I thought hitting the green in two on seventeen was a mistake, I was left with a long breaking downhill putt. I said to myself I had nothing to lose and instead of lagging the putt, I went for it, the line was perfect, the speed was perfect the eagle was perfect. I could not find that last birdie on eighteen, just came up short with the hardest chip of the round to finish seven under.
Well that was a roller coaster of a round, eight birdies and a eagle, a bogey and double bogey, a couple of easy putts missed, a couple of shots dropping that I had no right to make. It could have been a great round or a terrible round, it was a fair round. If I play well tomorrow, I will still be fighting the cut line, but that's better then the no hope feeling I had after thirteen. A quick word on the course, I really liked it, the small greens brought a different type of challenge, there are good scores there for the taking but the course will bite back if careless. Good luck all.

I managed to avoid a bogey start this time round, see, I am already doing better than round one, it's going to be a good day, what possibly could go wrong. Yesterday, I mentioned that I am not very good at the flop shot, I have changed my mind, I am great at the flop shot, I surprisingly decided not to chip my third shot on the second and flopped it in for eagle. Maybe I should flop everything from now on. Common sense got the better of my and I did not flop my tee shot on three, if I had, I would have missed out on hitting a marker in the fairway for the first time, it made a rather dull tinny sound which was a little disappointing but another golfing goal complete, just need to hit a flying bird and can stop playing. Anyway, I played my second close for tap in birdie. My chipping let me down on four, I changed my mind about what club to use, unfortunately I was just starting my down swing when I decided to change clubs which resulted in a under hit chip, just a par. I followed that with another par when like yesterday, I played safe to avoid the water, boring I know but had to be done. I found the bunker with my tee shot on six, it was heavily plugged and could not make the green with my bunker shot, this time though, I picked the right club for a birdie chip in. A bad bounce on seven meant par was as good as I could get while on eight, my newly found skill at flopping let me down giving me a tougher putt than I would have liked. It did drop though to bring me to five under. I finished the front nine with a disappointing par when I last focus for a second and completely ignored the wind.
I did not find the green yet again on ten, well, I found the green but the bounce again took me away rather than towards the cup. I putted from the fringe this time as it looked the safer shot, it was the right choice with a birdie as the result. Over the next couple of holes, I was still not getting the luck of the bounce and this was resulting in long birdie putts, I was putting the putts close but could not make a birdie to keep my score card ticking over. It was not until the fourteenth that I managed to pick up another shot, my tee shot just cleared the water before the bounce carried it over the green, it did leave me in a good chipping position though which I gratefully took. I played very safe on fifteen, but that caution did not result in birdie as a poor pitch and worse putt meant a par. For the first time in the round, I think I left a birdie behind me. A very good putt on sixteen brought some relief, it looked like I was facing another par after a over hit approach. Birdie was a must on seventeen, I could not afford to par another par five, I played the hole carefully to make sure of that birdie, now just needed to close out the round which I did in the best possible way with a very good birdie to finish ten under.
I felt today played a little bit tougher than round one. I did struggle at times to leave the ball anywhere near the hole. Thankfully my chipping was generally good today and that kept me in the game and the strong finish of three birdies in a row brought some shine to my scorecard. Like round one, eight birdies and a eagle, this time though no dropped shots which made all the difference, now the wait for other scores to come in. I really have no idea what the cut line will be, I could be well clear, well below, it's one of those courses where anything can happen, good luck all.
