If we had all been playing for multiple years it would matter less. But not everyone here joined the league at the same time, and under the current system it takes a full year to be on an even playing field with those who have a year or more in the league. IMO that is FAR too long for a video game. A divisor allows players to be fairly ranked based on their results much faster. Imo a divisor allows players to move up too quickly. Join the site and start off with a win/ Number #1 in the world you can have it. Maybe you finish Top 5 for your first 2 events? Number 1 is basically yours. Is this necessarily true? Not really.

What? A divisor of 20 means you have to play 20 events to be on even footing with the league. Playing 1 tournament and winning would probably have you ranked 500th or so in WGR.
Do you think playing one tournament, winning it and then quitting would have you ranked anywhere near the top of WGR using a 20 (or 40) divisor?

If you won once then quit you wouldn't be that high up. I still feel as if the changes are for the better. I feel as if I am where I should be now versus where I was before.

Good change imo. Coming from a guy that went down, when you actually take the time to understand what is changed and why you would probably like it too. IMO they had it right after the first change and caved to outside pressure. That's how i feel too, despite the fast i am 12 places higher and just outside the Top 10 with the new method. Which actually i don't think i deserve. I've been decent for the last 3 months or so, but that's it. Most of the b%&ing was done purely out of self interest - "boo hoo i've gone down i might not make the Masters". The inactives would have slipped in time - but these days people aren't willing to wait for anything i guess

I like the fact that the new systems allows players to move up quicker as this is a video game and not real life.
The only thing I'm not a fan of is the fact that if you can't play for a week or two it'll cost you big time with the new system. I have a holiday planned later in the year for example so how many places will I drop by not playing for two weeks?

Most likley - not saying for sure since it's up to Tim to figure it out but don't be surprised if it's tweaked from it's current form slightly. Won't be radical changes, just a tweak or two. Let's just say your WGR is in a state of flux until Sunday - we'll have it locked down before we finalize W14.

I like the fact that the new systems allows players to move up quicker as this is a video game and not real life. It doesn't. Equal footing time went from 40 weeks to 20 weeks to 52 weeks.

Just wanted to let everyone know we are indeed tweaking the formula.. We have not being influenced by any outside pressure.. we are just taking the time to continue to run the numbers, tweak, look at the numbers, tweak some more until we find the right balance for all players. We are not moving away from the total averages, but we are going to put something in place that will not penalize you for missing weeks. We will announce something shortly.
Thanks for your patience, and thanks for all of you that have supported us through this. All comments have been looked at and reviewed. Believe me guys, we have looked at this from many different angles, and I know we won't make everyone happy, but we are doing the best we can to make sure it's fair, fun, and exciting.
