My final round at Doak Valley, my final round of season one. With very little to play for today, I came in to round four with a carefree attitude. I would like to finish on a high but also want a stress free relaxing round. Putting my tee shot in a bunker did not help that feeling. Putting my bunker shot in another part of the same bunker and I started to grumble. One over after the first hole and a relaxed round was thrown right out the window. A forty three foot putt on the second meant stress free followed relaxed round out the same window but at least I made par this time. There was another visit to a bunker on the third but this time I put my bunker shot close to the hole and easy birdie followed. Next season, I am going to take a bucket of sand from each bunker I land in, a bucket of water from each river and lake I swim in and make my own private beach. Suck on that pro tours people with your vast ammounts of money, I getting my beach for free. So damn close to a ace of the fourth, just one more foot of roll and I would have changed the complexion of my round, still happy to go under par for the first time this round. Four pars followed, including a lip out chip, a missed six foot putt and two long range putts that came close. I am trying not to think what having them drop would have meant, got to accept my fate, can not think what might have been. I finished the front nine with a birdie to go two under.
For the second time today, it took me two shots to get out of a bunker. I should have started my sand collection today. I guess I can empty my shoes when I get home, start from there. A vicious bounce put me in the bunker this time, my tee shot was fine but when my tee shot landed it went ninety degrees right. As well as being good at this game, at times you need to be lucky. I went three under on eleven with a rather nice putt, every now and then I get thos medium range breaking putts right, if I could do it more often, my game would really improve. More sand in my shoes on thirteen before a good approach on the next hole helped me go four under. I chipped in for birdie on fifteen which was nice to see. My chipping has improved a lot lately but not as much as I would like. A few nights ago, during a friendly round, I chipped in three eagles over the closing five holes of a round, if only that could happen on tour. And that's how it finished, a satisfactory five under to bring my total to twenty four under.
I am not going to focus on what might have been. It has been should a fun year and season two promises more of the same. I think I might ban myself reporting on my true sim tour rounds, they could end up reading more like a novel than a forum post. To everyone that has been with me from day one, it's been one hell of a ride. To those that joined later, you all brought more and added more to what is a great community. Congratulations to those that heading to the web.com. To those that are just going to just miss out, hard luck, I am sure you will come back better and stronger. Have fun all and will see you soon for season two.
