I'm completely fine with that. You're saying drop in the best place the game allows. That's black and white. It is my option 3. I was referring to those saying it "shouldn't" be done, or calling some drops honorable, implying that others are less so. Have you not seen these types of replies? Your position seems far from the consensus. Ironically enough, the only one who seems to be in full agreement with you thus far, is me. Yeah but just because there are those saying it shouldn't be done, at the moment it can be and like you point out it is currently black and white. It is important that whatever happens it remains black and white and if they turn around and say you can't do it they need to come up with a series of criteria that completely rules out any form of discretion getting involved, and I don't think they can do that tbh so it's just easier to keep it as it is and hope HB fix it

The slippery slope of "if the other top players will do it, so will I!" I prefer integrity. I would not make that putt, but purposely two putt it. Thats just me.

I have never had this happen to me, but if I did, I would purposely miss the putt and make the 2nd one, but that's just my personal play if/when it happens. I wouldn't feel at all right taking advantage of that. I miss my first putt on every green anyway, so....

This very much reminds me of the disconnected player problem from online poker. When a player was disconnected, they would be automatically folded after timing out if their opponent made a bet, forfeiting the pot. However, if the connected player did not bet, and activated their time bank, then the disconnected player would usually have enough time to reconnect. Even if they didn't get back in time, the hand would be checked down and awarded to the best hand provided the connected player didn't actually bet.
At first there were many players who said that the honorable thing to do was wait as long as possible, and then let the hand check down. Sounds great, right? But then people started noticing that the less scrupulous players, defectors if you will, to use a game theory term, were the only ones benefitting. The honorable players had simply created a system whereby the non-cooperators were rewarded for their bad behavior, and the moral player was punished.
Furthermore, and even more sinister, some very amoral players actually began disconnecting on purpose against players they knew to be "honorable" in hands where they had some showdown equity, but did not want to be forced to call more bets on multiple streets to find out if their hand was best. This is a massive exploit when playing an aggro player heads up in no limit/pot limit games, where the bets grow exponentially.
Eventually, equilibrium was reached... EVERYONE began betting into disconnected players, effectively stealing pots every time the opportunity arose! This practice even came to be seen as the moral play, because the disconnects were now treated consistently by all, rather than opening up a loophole for the unscrupulous players to exploit for the sole benefit of themselves.
Food for thought.

Food for thought. when that player to my left is sitting out I am engulfing his bbs as quickly as damn possible. Used to play semi professionally through uni and I wouldn't not steal BB when sitting out as that would be like you going to work and giving a fellow employee a fiver for no reason

I try to play by Steve Sloan's advice concerning the water: "Don't hit it in the water!" I need to take that advice into my real game... Fwiw I wish I could drop the ball on the green in real life. Would seriously help my Scores!

Given there is no rule now, and all of us can drop in the best spot provided by the game in any other drop situation, it makes sense to keep that as is until a new rule is applied.

Ncf, Shot in the dark, but from the way you worded your post I'm guessing you played a lot of SNGs?
