Then what's the point? You might aswell take all 12 from the WGR (which is the only real way we have of determining who the "best players" are) Clue is in the name - Captains Pick. There might be, for example, players who are outside the Top 50 who are in great form. In fact if i was US Captain i know there's one guy outside the Top 50 i'd pick in a heartbeat. Luckily, i'm not US Captain, or even American, so i'll duck out at this point I wasn't saying it as hard and fast rule, just that the main concern (for the captain) should be the best player available, as it is in real life. And your assertion that the next guy in the WGR is the "best" player is wrong on many levels. WGR is greatly affected by how many tournaments you've played, being good at this game is not. My point was, being a contributor to the forum shouldn't be close to the top priority. EDIT: I see that everyone has completely misinterpreted my initial post. You guys are bad at reading. No where did I suggest or imply that you take the next highest ranking guy from the WGR, that would be stupid. All I was saying was do what they do in real life, pick the best guy. I was disagreeing with the suggestion that the guy's posting history should be a primary concern. Geez.

Were they not talking about a non playing captain being chosen as an active member of the forum, rather than the captains picks?

Were they not talking about a non playing captain being chosen as an active member of the forum, rather than the captains picks? Indeed. Nic was suggesting the Captains themselves should be non playing, active members, not the captains picks. Nobody has suggested that. The Captains Picks should obviously be whomever the Captains deem to give their team the best chance, on whatever basis they decide....

Interestingly, and I didn't know this until the other day when they were talking about David Lingmerth on the TV, you MUST hold a European Tour Card to qualify to play in the Ryder Cup.
If we applied that rule here (and stipulated a minimum number of events you must play to keep your card) the tours would remain even pretty naturally.

Interesting indeed, I thought a place high enough on the WGR would be enough. I just read through some other Ryder Cup info .. when the players get to accumulate their points. Apparantly, they don't during the Summer Olympics period. Wait a minute .. we have SUMMER OLYMPICS during season 2!!??

Ok. Im ranked 118th on the euro tour. Top 78 make the playoffs. For the sake of conversation lets say theres 40 pga players ahead of me... I dont think there is but go with it, would i slide into the 78th slot and be able to play in the race to dubai? and then would i be in the top 100 on the money list and not have to qualify even though I was really 118th but would be 78th in the race to dubai. Someone asked on pg 7 but it wasnt answered

Someone asked on pg 7 but it wasnt answered We're working on getting the active players feature implemented - should help as well -but what you said above is true. If you look at the stats and rank by money it's a list with no PGA players - would give you the best approximation of where you stood today. Just copy/paste into excel to see how many people are ahead of you

Maybe I'm a bit dense, but is there no Euro tour stop for week 34 for those not eligible for the RtoD? Do I play Web. Com?

If you don't qualify for R2Dubai, then you're practicing for Web.com Tour finals and playing the events unofficially for the interim.
