Aaaaand, following that up with a second 91 for a total of +AShitLoadOfStrokes. Just as I thought I had gotten better. Well, nope. It actually feels like I'm getting worse the more I play. I'm almost a better golfer IRL than in the game sometimes.

Thanks Bogeyman. As is per my established history, can not seem to keep a good thing going in the game. Rounds 2 & 3, well, somewhat going backwards it seems. But, let me throw this one out to you and everyone else and it pertains to the OB "Rules" that the game uses and is somewhat of a mystery to me. I do understand that they are based in theory on real life golfing rules.
Round 2, hole #15, hit my tee shot into the water, OB, and had to play my 3rd shot from the tee box and re-hit. Round 2, hole #15, hit my tee shot into the water, OB, and this time, the "Drop Circle" appeared and I took my 3rd shot from the fairway, close to where the ball crossed the line into the water. (I actually saved par on this hole, a "Splashie")
Now, I know that the 2 shots went into the water at different points. One shot was slightly longer than the other, but not by that much maybe 10 or 15 yds. in difference. They both were in the same general area of the fairway. I bring this up because I have seen other strange OB situations in the game on other courses that just make no sense to me as to why the ball is placed where it is. IRL, there are rules for water hazards, lateral water hazards, drop areas, so on. They are usually clearly marked and defined on the score cards at most courses. I have found no info on this at the HB site, so wondering if anyone else knows of an explanation or site where this may be discussed.

BTW Orion congrats on your first round. Very tidy score on that track! Keep up the good work.

IRL, the water is usually a lateral hazard and not OB unless clearly marked. If any area on the course is a lateral hazard, you get to drop either where you crossed in or in the designated drop area. If it is OB, you would in fact re-tee.

Herman, Well, that's my point, most clearly verbalized(as it were) by you, so thanks for the clarification. Since OB is shown in Red in the game and I have finished, not sure if I am going to go back and replay just to see how that area is colored (maybe at a later time). My bad for not looking at it when it happened to see if it was marked and where if so. I have seen the hole in question on the overhead view, just do not remember seeing any Red there. But no mater, just curious to see if anyone else has experienced this on that particular hole or any others.
Thanks for info, much appreciated.

There have been times where I have went in the water either on a par 3 or approach into a par 4/5 green and it allowed me to drop right next to the hole on the green. Very inconsistent.

Played two rounds last night. Confidence: shot. The frustrating part is that it wasn't really the course, it was my mis-hits. From round to round, I am so inconsistent with my swing. I'm not trying to avoid blame here, but depending upon the round, I'm either quite consistent or quite the opposite, which has made me wonder if my internet speed ever affects the round. I was quite sure that if someone was using Netflix that I was seeing more bad swings all round. Maybe I'm a crackpot, but my internet is quite limited (3mbps). Or, it's possible that I'm just inconsistent. It's just that I seem to see these results round to round, more than hole to hole. Agh. I'd rather lose to a tough course because of a tough course rather than shanks!

Caddy, Yeah, same here. All of a sudden I just can't get the line inside the safe zone to save my life. I come up short with a 94% swing when I need 100 to get close. Other times I shoot straight the whole round but fail at my short game. I really don't understand how people can consistently get -10 or whetever on the PGA and Euro tours. Insanely impressive to me. Had a good practice round on next weeks course at least. A 70 for a -2. Can't wait to shoot +20 for at least 2 rounds next week.

I can only run one thing in the house and have only recently been able to stream you tube.
I doubt it has any affect. Sometimes i just cant work out where the erratic shots come from.

Herman, I have had the exact same thing happen to me also, it really is confusing and inconsistent. The strangest one for me is this one: During a tourney, looking down a fairway with the green about 200 yds. away, see the green surrounded by water, and beyond the green in question, see another green and a tee box on the other side of the lake (body of water). Hit my shot, ball rolls off of the green and into the water. Drop Circle comes up, but on the Tee Box on the other side of that lake. Plus, there is a fence directly in front of the drop circle, about 1-2 ft. away. Accept the drop, play my shot back across the lake to the green but the ball hits the fence, goes backwards and ends up in the lake near this tee box. Eventually I do get back to the original green, but at the expense of many, many penalty strokes. Ended up with a 10 for this hole. This is not just inconsistent, down right unfair and do not know why a drop would be allowed at that location and with an unmovable object directly in front of the shot. Strange event to be sure.

I have had several weird ones too. Not in tourneys though. Put the ball in water was placed no more than 5 feet from the flag when dropped.
The devs are working on a fix

Yikes, that's slower than dialup isn't it?

I followed some ghost balls( of 57's and 60's) and every approach into a green has been a dart at the pin...stops dead..no roll out...2-3 ft away..EVERY GREEN and it doesn't matter how far out they are. I'm lucky to get within 10 feet on 2 holes per round.

That combination with factoring wind and playing draw/fade when necessary. Just lots of practice until it's second nature, just like knowing how to line up putts and gauging how hard to hit them.
