Im all for keeping the tour realistic, but don't agree with this rule at all. There is a PGA event that week and a Euro as well. This is a complete contradiction. The Euro Tour event next week isn't real - so any Euro Tour players that don't qualify for the PGA are actually only getting a chance to earn any money because Doyley & Co are nice enough to give everyone the chance to play every week by creating the minor events. The tours should be about progression. Being able to play in a major is an opportunity, not a burden.

Surely you accept the invite or don't play that week. Unfair on the other guys that don't qualify. It's a major. Your money goes to both tours. Surely you want to play on the major? Im baffled. The only reason I guess is you see more chance of winning the minor which poses the question
Do you get more money if you make the cut on the major as opposed to winning the minor?

If you qualify for a major, you play it. That's what any real life pro would do. Agreed. I don't think there's much more to debate on the topic.

Co-sanctioned is more along the lines of the results are recognized by both. Not really talking about that, talking more about invitation criteria. For Euro tour guys getting an invite that don't really have any track record at PGA events (like myself), it would seem to fall under category #12 as listed here (using the real PGA Champ as an example). On the official (real life) tournament, WGR is only a secondary criteria (recent Ryder Cup player, as long as inside top 100 WGR). PGA money list is a big determinant... not WGR. I'm not fussed about it one way or the other, and I'm fine with some liberties here and there on criterias to work within our TGCTours world. Was just a bit surprised. When I chose to join the Euro Tour, I just assumed I was giving up the chance to play in the PGA Championship and the Fed Ex cup as a matter of course. Much like I would figure if I joined the PGA Tour, I would be giving up the chance to play in the Race to Dubai. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PGA_ChampionshipJust scroll down to qualification. I just read it myself. Yep, which is why I linked the same thing in the post you quoted. And that's my point: - WGR position is largely irrelevant to PGA Championship invites. - It's all about position on the money list on the PGA Tour - Which is why, to go back to my original point, I was surprised that someone like myself... a Euro tour player with no PGA tour money, received an invite at all, regardless of my WGR.

For those of us on the 'fringes of invitation', when would we find out if we are in the field or not?

I'm really still trying to figure out how I made the field. I'm 130 something on the Euro money list, have no wins, no top 10's. I have 3 top 25's all in minor events.
That's my whole point, I'm one of the players that your speaking of when it comes to minor events. I actually missed the cut the first minor event of the year and have only made 59% of my cuts on the Euro. So no I'm not trying to bully a minor field. Without the minors I wouldn't be in any discussion for a major.
I am very privileged to have the opportunity and it shows I have progressed as the season has gone on. Just feel if some of you where in my position you would feel the same way. Gl to you all.

If you accept invite yes we'll auto remove you from minor event, if you don't accept invite you will be WD from minor event assuming you would have made the major field.

Well said. There's really nothing left to be added! Don't think you would feel that way edi if you where in my position on the outside looking in. Just outside the top 125 to keep your card, have struggled to make cuts all year and had to make money every week here on out to get in and keep your card. The strategic play for me is to play the Euro and get guaranteed money.
Anyway Im over it I love TGC, Ive had the game since day 1, 1 of the first members, and appreciate all the work put into the site, the game by every1. And Im all for keeping this going as long as possible and helping out in anyway. I review courses and wanna see TGC succeed in all areas.
Just putting my sit. out there, good luck guys and girls. I accepted my invite just waiting now to see the field.
