Hey everyone -- I agree with the sentiment that this course is a GREAT Tropical theme course. Luke mentioned that it plays great in both low and high winds and he's 100% right. I played 6-7 practice rounds and most of my winds were 12-15, and while that was a few strokes tougher it wasn't impossible by any means. I found myself with a crazy amount of side-hill 8 footers, so the putting was more difficult than you would have thought with the receptive greens. Now on to the results... Shot -24 overall after playing all 4 in a row this afternoon. Here's the round by round breakdown for anyone interested: Round 1 - 60 (-11). Played a GREAT front 9, including a hole in one on #5, plus a chip in eagle on the drivable #9. Slowed down a bit more on the back 9 but still very happy overall with the -11 posted. A link to the Hole in 1 video below - note that I was even through 4, so this kicked off the rest of my round: Round 2 - 70 (-1) - Easily my most disappointing round. Got it to -3 through 12 and then flat-out had a terrible driving round. I kept running just into the light rough, and with the winds pounding at 17-19, that made the game a struggle for par instead of a race to birdie. I kept it together on the front 9 but the last 6 holes saw me go +2. Happy to stay under par but this should have been a -4 or -5 round. Round 3 - 64 (-7) - Winds around 9mph made this a bit easier of a round than round 2. Nothing spectacular, just a solid round with some good shots and very little sweating for par. Round 4 - 66 (-5) - Wins again around 9-11mph, but from a different direction than Round 3. The struggle here was chipping - I kept finding myself at 12-14 yards with not much green to work with, and this game doesn't really have a shot for that distance. That resulted in me having to drain a few 15+ foot putts for par - which I did only half the time. If I could have gotten my chipping a bit closer, I could have shaved this down to a 62 or so. There you have it. Hoping that this is good enough to get a Web.com exemption but I'm dubious about it. Hard to know how Round 2 will affect overall scores. Good luck to all who haven't played, it's a GREAT track. Nate Nice hole in one and a great first round. Looks like the wind got you as well on the second round (I shot a 72) but I'm so happy the new wind update is in place.

& I did see Irving R. Levine at the top of the leaderboard on R4 after 2 holes, but he was like Paul Dunne at the Open last week. There have been some glitches in the game since the last update. They're working on it.

Been busy last few days so not been as active on here. Only tinkered with the new swing mechanic and was horrified to find I couldn't get near 100% with my current swing. Sooooo, adapted it and now use the other hand and turn the controller sideways using a crossways flick. Same technique my father in law uses (and I'd taken the p*ss out of!) and started working like a charm. I'd only played this course once before in winds upto 20mph and to be frank couldn't play in it. Hands up, I'm a fair-weather golfer!
I'm not being big-headed but my opening 63 felt like a + round. Decided to play The Optimistics ghost ball as he's been shooting up the flights. I had the feeling we were evenly matched until he made the putts and I missed them! I narrowly missed my first ace on the 8th and in the end walked off ruing the missed putts, chances to score better and some delightful course design.
2nd round and I could feel the warm, brown mess seeping down my trouser leg as I stood on the 1st at 17mph crosswinds. I watched as The Optimistic and CFlos balls (oo er, matron!) bent wickedly back into the centre of the fairway. I gripped the shaft with severely sweaty palms and kept my head down on the backswing. The club felt like a 50kg dumb bell. I flicked it wearily through contact and ended up hooking it into heavy rough on the left. Oh great! Annoyingly I got to -3 through some misfortune and good putting but couldn't sustain it in the winds. Glad to walk off under par at -1 but amazed at -6 and -9 scores I saw. The tail was firmly between my legs!!
Well done to those that scored well. Just bloody glad we're all singing from the same lame song sheet!

It's good to see some of you from CC-B and the old WEB-A tours. I managed to get an exemption this week so have a change to make a permanent move. The pressure is on. I'm normally okay in high winds so I should have a chance. I've had one practice and I like the course. It should be fun in the wind. Best of luck everyone.

With two strikes to my name, I am standing at the edge of a cliff now. Any mistakes will bring me one step closer to going over. This course is one I have struggled with in the past, I was hoping for little brook manor this week but it was not to be. How to play my round was on my mind, safe to avoid dropping shots or take risks with the aim of picking up shots. I decided safe would be the best option. My approach on the first was under hit, I left myself to much to do for birdie so I was happy to take par. I got my approach right on the second for my first birdie of the day. It was nice to get that under my belt. The third hole was where I had to stop and think. I wanted to go for the green in two. I think I could have made it but forced myself to lay up and the birdie that followed made me glad I did. On the fifth, I hit my tee shot to long. I tried a very gentle pitch to get it close to the hole but made a balls of it. I left myself with a long put for par. There was a huge sense of relief when I got both the line and speed right. It did remind me that it is easy to drop shots here if I don't fully concentrate. That warning helped me pay more attention and I birdied three of the next four holes. Five under for the back nine. I was more than happy with that.
I struggled a bit at the start of the back nine. I was just not giving myself birdie chances. Maybe I was trying to hard to replicate my front nine and it just was not happening. I parred the first three holes before I finally dropped a shot on the thirteenth. I picked the wrong club for my tee shot and left it short. My second was a case of anywhere on the green, it was not possible to get near the hole. Unlike my long putt on the front nine, this one did not drop. It was another warning, this one with a bit more bite. I had to focus every hole, every shot. Like last time, I again birdied three of the next four holes. Seven under coming to the last, better than I hoped coming into the round. I should have waited till I finished the last before I started thinking of my score. I played it all wrong, a over hit approach, a under hit birdie putt, a misjudged par put. My own fault, if I want to stay in the cc-a, I can not do things like that. It was not a good way to finish what was a pretty good round. Both boogies were from when I lost focus for a minute but over all, happy wit six under.
Tomorrow brings the real test, with the weather forecast predicting strong winds it will be a challenge. Will these winds push me over the edge, will I lose focus and jump or will a lifeline be thown to me and drag me kicking and screaming back to the safety of mid table for another week or two. Especially for what's coming in two weeks. I can see Shawnee Creek levels of rage flooding these forums. Stay tuned to find out what happens, or you know, play the game yourself, have some fun and pay no attention to the over dramatic ramblings of this forum poster. Take care all.

ok 2nd and 3rd done. Played 1 over on the 2nd. was cruising at -4, but hit a water ball and hit the flag stick on one of the longer par 4s and that pretty much screwed me.
3rd round was going great. was -6 going into 16, for whatever stupid reason i decided to try the left fairway, and end up bouncing it into the water, lipped out par putt. Then on 18, had to layup, pitched, hit the stick and rolled 20 feet way! bogey.
So was walking into 16 looking at -7 under and ended up finishing -4. I think I can make a come back on the 4th round, but a few unlucky breaks really screwed me in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Surprisingly didnt have any issues with the swing being on ps4.

round 1 done. Went in wanting to put up at least -6 after some shady practice rounds. Surprised myself with a -10. Playing round 2 tonight looks like it's gonna be a rough one according to everybody. -24 huh? Hereeee we go!

Woo hoo! Temporarily top of the table!.... At least until a couple update their scores (Luke!)
My 3rd round was up and down but I definitely under performed in my 2nd round. So I deserve not to win. I had to sit in awe at some players abilities to get close in the extreme wind.
So I played rounds 3 and 4 back to back. Round 4 I saw as a formality and just wanted it out the way. Started well at -3 thru 3. And the birdies kept coming despite not playing great. Flopped a shot on the 8th after landing well short off tee. Took me back to -5. Thankfully 9 was downwind but still had to scramble for birdie. -6 at the turn and I was concentrating on not dropping any more shots.
Stuck my 2nd shot on 10 35ft from the hole with a wicked 2ft drop. Planned to lag it and smiled when it dropped for eagle. Nearly aced 11 but thankfully birdied my 18ft putt. If 12 was the other par 5 I placed my ball next to the 2 ghost balls and watched as 1 hit their 2nd close for eagle. Hit a superb 3w that I thought might albatross but died at the last minute. 2ft putt for eagle! Birdied a couple more holes and needed an up and down from the sand on 18 for a 58!
Walked back to the clubhouse with the love struck ladies glare on the back of my tee shirt!
Have to say though I'm inwardly p*ssed at the new swing mechanic. I feel like I'm forcing the crap out of the analog stick and still not getting 100% when I want it. I'm also not getting any benefit up close to the green! I can't seem to be able to hit 100% on any chips/flops.

Great play Rob. Your ghost kept appearing on my tournament round and even though I was removing it, it kept coming back, same with Lukes! Seeing those good scores put me off ha ha!

The moment of truth, could I survive the storm that was about to hit Loa Pali. My pleas to the officals to delay round two fell on deaf ears, I was going to have to play. My drive on the first tee was perfect and to feel good about myself, I think I will stop here, ending this post with perfect sounds good to me.
Well it seems I have contract obligations to report on this round. I did not read the small print when I registered to play. I parred the first hole, something I was aiming for on every hole. Par all the way would be a good result. My plans for par all the way around lasted one hole. I messed up the next two. I made the greens ok, well away from the flag but should have been able to two putt easily. I got the speeds on the greens wrong both times and left myself well short, both par putts were missed, two over after three and I felt myself being pushed closer to the edge. I parred the next three, I should have birdied one but I lipped out. My tee shot on the seventh found the rough on the left side with no way to make the green. I could not recover for par. The ninth is a birdie hole, it has to be birdied. I left my tee shot in a bunker, the bunker shot was inches from eagle but I happily took my birdie. I had been thrown the flimsiest of lifelines.
That lifeline was cut on the back nine. I got away with par on the tenth before the sharp teeth of the wind did the cutting. I left myself a sixty foot or so putt on the eleventh. I read the green wrong and putted my self off the green onto the fringe. I did not over hit the ball pass the hole, no that would be to easy. I curled the ball to the left and put the ball in the fringe there, it was a terrible shot, deserving of the bogey that followed. I found the water on the next hole. I was sure I had my maths right, guess I can't count, bogey. I can't remember how I dropped my shot on the thirteenth but there is a red number there so I guess I did. Five over and I was over the edge of the cliff, clinging on by my finger tips.
The fourteenth is another most birdie hole and thankfully I did. A couple of pars followed but again there was another birdie chance missed. I really was not helping myself. My tee shot on the seventeenth was not great, I left my self with a horrible long put, severe left to right downhill break, maybe around thirty feet or so. I aimed as far left as I could and just hit and hoped it would not travel to far past the hole. It did not travel past the hole at all, it dropped for birdie, my best shot of the round, down to luck more than anything else but I was happy to take it. I parred the last to finish three over.
I am not dead and buried yet but there is a lot of work to be done. Time will tell if it will be you guys or the people in cc-b will be reading my adventures on the ice rink greens of Thousand Islands next week. At the start of my post I wanted to end my post with one word to make make myself feel good, so I am going to anyway. My putt on seventeen was perfect.

Norways No 1 seems to be confusing practice with tournament play!
