Straight shot lines matter for long irons. If you hit slightly off with a 3-iron, you're going off your intended target by at least 3 yards. Longer putts are more difficult to make.

You know I'm joking I mean I'm down in CC-B and your up in Web!!! I'm sure you've always been a straighter hitter than me. Dean I knew you were joking, I am usually fairly straight with the driver it's normally the irons I tend to pull now and again. I can't allow for it because when I do I hit it straight and finish right of the stick, I also don't like right to left swinging putts I mostly miss on the left. Plenty room for improvement in my game.

My shots are hardly ever go dead straight. Yesterday on my 3rd round I badly sliced an iron on a par 3. I was cursing away and blaming the wife for talking on my back swing Then I thought, hold on it's actually going quite straight. Oh, it went straight, so straight it was a hole in one! My first on tour I think! Pretty amazing.

Once you get to a certain level of proficiency, I don't believe the ability to hit 'perfect' shots matters much at all. If I could flip a switch and magically hit all my shots dead straight, I doubt it would take more than a fraction of a stroke off of my scores. Once you can keep it in the red cone 99+% of the time, your level is determined by how well you factor in wind, lie, and elevation, as well as understanding where to land the ball, and reading greens/putting well. This is what separates the top players, not their physical ability to move their thumbs in a straight line. even with that said, there is quite the advantage to be gained with 100% strait shots. putts go from 5-20 feet on average to 1-7 feet, (guessing random numbers). from tee to green, strait shooters drive further on average, leaving an a shorter approach shot on average, and having shorter birdie putts on average, and hazards only come into play if it was a case of math fail. give me a hori, and i think i could win every week, or damn near close to it.

Yep agree. Thats the reason i have not won since i lost my hori pad lol. Those 5 ft putts are now 15 ft, they dont go in all the time.

Haven't heard anything recently on this. Does this mean we are all playing fair?

While I am thrilled steps were taken to provide more fairness, I feel it's also caused the recent issues we've run into, especially PS4 swings struggling to hit 100%.
This is my opinion, but I know others have shared. It seems HB focused more on this than other more pertinent matters that needed fixing. Maybe catering too much to one specific set of voices (namely TGCTours), than sticking to game plans assumedly in place for progress of the product.
Too much time trying to police the select few that live for this and some fantasmical prestige that doesn't exist has damaged/affected the vast majority that accept this as a video golf simulation.

What is the connection between identifying straight shooters with data and people getting less than 100% on swings? You've lost me.

James, with all due respect, your perception of how things work and our relationship with HB is completely incorrect.
