Seems the British have a sense of humor after all.

Well, after enjoying watching the Scottish Open last week I thought I’d boot this game up for first time in like 8 months to see if it has improved.
Loading times? Long.
Renaissance Club? Grand.
Putting and chipping? Still crap. Jesus, greens aren’t very playable above medium green speeds with default ball. Tbf, I think it’s an animation thing as I moved green speeds to very slow and I was still tonking it by.
Went back to 2k21 and enjoyed sim golf once again.
So guess I wouldn’t play legend swing difficulty 2k23 after all. Let’s see how the next game iteration plays.

So guess I wouldn’t play legend swing difficulty 2k23 after all. Let’s see how the next game iteration plays. 2K21 has the least sim like scrambling part of any of HB's golf games. 2K23 has way better hole mechanics and you can't just smash those 5-10 footers in like 2K21, I had so many 100% medium putt rounds on 2K21 with no grids. 6 chip ins in my last ever 2K21 round which is laughable, the short range chipping in that game was crap and don't get me started how terrible the splash shot was. About as sim like as Mario Golf. It made the short scrambling game easy from virtual anywhere, it was just so bad. I did like the long game in 2K21 but was disappointed with every other part of it I like the putting in 2K23and have no problem with it, I do agree downhill putts rollout too much but level and uphill are fine up to 160.speed. I could just not stomach 2K21's really awful scrambling game anymore, 2K23 is a massive improvement in that department. 2K23 plays a great game on legend difficulty no aids, people going back and saying older HB games are better I just don't understand, no way would I play any of those golf games again. I recently went back and played every single HB game to see how they play now and they are all seriously lacking in the short game department. The only part I actually enjoyed was the long game in 2K21 on master swing difficulty, problem is when you get within 50 yards it goes downhill.

I just don’t get 2k23 hammers.
All my best chips we ones that my avatar did a mishit animation for. It’s crap. It’s like the power bar starts before the club head gets pulled out.

Not being funny oswinner but being 8 months away from the game is I do believe gonna make u a little rusty . The short game mechanics in 23 are so much better then 21. The reason you've gone back is because it's easy .

That's absolutely the case with chips and putts. Fwiw you do kind of adjust after a while to it. I hated that at first and still would prefer the 21 immediacy on the swing but nowadays it's become second nature to allow for that tiny delay.

You are playing on a PS4 so maybe you are having latency issues because of that 30fps cap. I recently got the game on Xbox Series X and it actually plays ok on it's 60Hz mode, but on 30Hz it's awful, unplayable for me. I will also say the pitching in 2K23 is superb especially for partial pitch shots, I use it a lot from about 35 yards up to 80. The shot has a reel good feel to it.and you can really start to guage distance through practice. The heavy rough in 2K23 around the greens actually makes a difference now, in 2K21 it didn't matter really if you land in the long stuff as it was just a distance penalty really. You could cycle though different clubs and have that backstop so distance management was a piece of cake. In 2K23 you get more spin from fairway than rough so those chips and pitch shots bite more. You can actually short side yourself especially if you land in heavy rough as you just don't get the same control out of it. I do admit that they need to implement a proper bump and run in the next game and make fairway putting less awkward. Oh and tone down downhill rollout as even a 1 inch downhill putt rolls out too much for my liking especially on faster greens than 130's A few tweaks here and there for the next game but 2K23 is by far the best short game from any golf game I’ve play to date with an analog controller. Do you use the full cam for putting or even chipping by any chance?. With that low wide cam it actually doesn't look like the putter head is moving at all at the start of the stroke with full cam you can see it move straight away as the camera is slightly elevated. Much easier to guage distance especially for shorter putts or chips when you can see the putter head/ clubhead start to move at the start of the stroke.

Is that tiny delay because you have a lower cam Craig and you just can't see the putter head move at the beginning of the stroke, I don't see it at all on full cam, feels pretty responsive to me. Now that delay on EA's game feels like an eternity to me, very noticeable.

It's like he tenses up before pulling the club back haha nowhere near as long as EA though, yeah. And doesn't bother me anymore.

I don't know what you lot are talking about really, I chip and putt mostly from high camera so don't notice the delay . So from now on I'll shutt up 😂😂😂

I don't really either anymore but I can see why OSWinner finds it a bit jarring if he's still playing 2k21. I had the same thoughts as launch. But yeah when I played a little while it just became the norm.
Was chatting to a few people on twitch yesterday who seemed keen on trying legend swing by the way. I do think there's at least some interest in it.

I do think there's at least some interest in it. I did notice something quite different between Xbox and PC putting. The ball seems to launch off the putter face quite differently on Xbox though pretty much the same otherwise. I know there isn't input lag on PC and I test this when people say there was, the putting head moves straight away when I pull the stick back. On Xbox I haven't notice it really but have only played a few rounds so far and wasn't looking for it, but it didn't stand out. Though like you said the DOF is intense on Xbox especially when you use the putting cam which actually makes putts more difficult to read for me compared to PC. Also it seems to be really low resolution in the distance, I mean really low. Trees can look like a water coloured painting at times, it's quite jarring. Shame we can't switch off DOF though on Xbox as I really dislike it in golf games

Shameless plug for my society on Xbox if anyone does drop in here and fancies trying out the settings over four rounds. True Sim: Legend (4 round) society. Also check out Tough as Nails on the society boards for a one-ound fix.
