I don't mind this, but it'd be the other way around with blades vs cavity backs. Cavity backs are usually longer distance because they jack the lofts on them i.e. a 7 iron CB is more like a 5 iron blade, and their overall design aims to produce less spin to increase distance and accuracy, as they do have less dispersion on off centre strikes. The main aim of cavity backs is peripheral weighting to hit the ball straighter where blades favour more advance players who like to work the ball left or right and are less forgiving for poorer shots. Distance irons and woods have a cavity and thin metal that springs back and forward to spring the ball off the clubface. These clubs tend to have less loft and with more distance and are from 7 iron to 3 iron for example, not on your shorter clubs but those shorter clubs will also have less loft to add more distance. Yes less spin as the ball is not travelling up the clubface as much on 7 to 3 iron, more being sprung forward and upwards like a tennis racquet effect. Yeah, I was trying to say that 😂 I have T100 irons in my real bag, they look and play more like blades but they do have a cavity in them. In any case, someone else's 7 iron in a game improvement set is probably gonna go further than mine with all else being equal.

A modern engine could completely revolutionise planting through procedural generation.

For example your 7 iron has a 34 degree loft but with the T100S it is 32 degrees. My 8 iron is close to your 7 iron at 35 degrees loft. Yes you brought up a great point about iron numbers and loft as many assume that an iron number is just based on a fixed loft angle.

A modern engine could completely revolutionise planting through procedural generation. It would be great to get a modern engine in this game. If they were to use this I believe the consoles would be out the door for designing. However, a few pages back there was a post that there is a more advance Unity software available.

Yes, it can be cranked up to 11. I’ve said for ages the newer unity engines are pretty good. Here it is.

Yeah doesnt have to be Unreal, just needs to be up to date! I wonder if they choose to go with an updated version of Unity whether we would lose the current library of courses.

It wouldn’t hurt me if I had to start from scratch in the designer as long as they still had one I find it hard to believe that given the state of computer science that some form of migration won’t be possible regardless of new engine. It’s whether they can be bothered/whether it makes commercial sense.

I can't imagine it would be that hard for them to create a "Old.course" -> "newFormat.CourseNew" converter, if they would even need to use a new file type. It's just splines, height data, and objectIDs and either XYZ locations or just XY locations (for objects that are snapped to the elevation) for the objects.
If we got better objects (like natural grass growing as mentioned above), at worse they could just import the splines/textures/holes/elevation data and strip everything else out.

I can imagine anything being a problem for this company. After the last update I guess it was around 6 months ago I still can only favorite 50 courses and after page two of my played courses the game starts to show me courses I played many months ago disregarding more recently played ones. I still get freezes and disconnects on the Playstation consoles. Even with all of that if they do away with the designer I will just stick with this game. Gameplay is decent enough the putting is extremely good and there are hundreds of very good courses. Not gonna settle for 30 or 40 courses any pony up 70 bucks for a new game if they go in that direction. My guess is they just pile more stuff on top of the old code making the game even less stable than it already is now.

Playing some competitive match making for the first time in a long time.
First guy I play with is on stroke 6 2 feet from the hole while I have a tap in to win the match with par. He takes driver out and smashes it back toward the tee. I assume this is normal. I reported him from unsportsmanlike behavior but I have no idea if that does anything
We need a "That's good" and a "Good good?" button in the menu for crap like that

If they were to use this I believe the consoles would be out the door for designing. However, a few pages back there was a post that there is a more advance Unity software available. Tbh I am a graphics snob and turn on all RT effects to max and I do have a pretty high end PC with an RTX 4080 Super. But we need to hold off a bit in this game. There needs to be 60 fps on consoles as the game plays like crap on 30fps with it's awful latency/input lag. The game just doesn't run well on the Series X at the moment(visually or performance) for me so more demanding engines than Unity might not be the answer. Yeah it needs to be ported better, but I have gaming PC/Xbox Series X and a PC handheld ROG Ally so I can see where different platforms compromise in visual fidelity. But all said and done this game needs good framerates to feel responsive and play like it is suppose to. Having improved societies and cross platform would be a game changer for me. Keep the same engine and improve ball physics as they are pretty good but can also be improved more. Just look how awful they are on EA's game even though that game has better visuals than 2K23. I want to see better and more varied rough that really effects the lie of the ball. Long grass does nothing in 2K23. Hit your shot in a bush or heavy trees it should result in an uplayable. There is so much they can improve with this game and just making it look graphically better is not the answer where other areas of the game are so much more important for a better golf game.

We'd have a tap in to win the hole and the other two clowns would just keep hitting woods and irons all over the place until they reached the stroke limit. Ridiculous behaviour really.

Has there even been any confirmation of a new game?
