Dear TST enthusiasts,
For this week's second test event, I stumbled upon the IRL PGA course - Port Royal GC, Bermuda - while looking for an appropriate course and decided we might as well practice on that. It's a lovely course and conditions are pleasant, although the wind gets up a little.
As long as there's no news on the ball-situation, I'm trying to schedule courses and conditions that are playable with default balls.
As last week, let me know whether we're heading in the right direction with these settings, courses and conditions.
Have fun! Frans

Looking forward to this week Frans.
One thing I would say from playing so far is it's pretty hard to see the slopes in rainy overcast weather on this version. Maybe it's because my monitor doesn't have HDR, maybe I just can't see them yet. But just one thing I noticed last week.
Master seems absolutely fine so far in my opinion.

Chances of me scheduling rain are very slimβ¦ π I did schedule some overcast rounds though; if they turn out to be too dark in this game on various appliances/settings, let me know!

Frans Would you believe it you picked the same course as I set for USE's first exhibition event yesterday. Great pick Frans, Wade has created a very nice RCR here. He said it should play well on up to160 greens as he checked for pins on slopes. I played the course many times on 2K21 as I enjoyed it so much. Seems I will be playing a lot of this course this week on 2K23 π

If it is well received I will submit it to 2k. The course is not lidar and it was done from scratch. I did use the official PGA pin/hole locations from the 2021 tournament. Thanks for using my course this week! Just don't use any water balls on #16 lol.

Okay, so I played all four rounds: +3, -1, E, -4 for a -2 total My observations: - either your scheduler has gotten a lot worse very quickly or 2k23 TST is more difficult than 2k21 TST
- loved the course but I found the greens to be very, very tricky on these speeds with default balls (which are the only ones I've used so far)
- I didn't mind the grind but a little worried that this might no be everybody's cup of tea
So, would love to hear your thoughts before I decide on course and conditions for what is likely to be our last test event next week. Should I assume people use balls that slow down greens? Should I not? (Or simply hope for a patch that will make these questions irrelevant?). Still want me to try and schedule the IRL PGA (or DB World) tour course played that week whenever possible? And maybe it isn't as tough as I thought it was... I do think I played too aggressive and too fast. Best wishes, Frans

Either I am going completely mad but it seems that HB have slowed the green speeds down quite considerably. 134 feels more like 117 now.

Have to laugh at this game at present, struggling I am an I will not deny that, putting is absolutely baffling me, but I actually found a live ghost, ok it wasn't Nath (who was actually there) but another, played 1 hole then turned, turn order off, wishing for Naths ball to materialise on my screen, to which I ended up with a shot limit without hitting a shot. πππ Got to love this game at present.

When I played unpublished rounds my ported green speed was 163. Which translated to 155 on 2k23. I noticed that B101 published Yarra with 160 2k23 green speed. I decided to go with that mainly because of the 2k friction balls. I did my testing with the default 2k ball. I also checked all the pins/slopes for illegal pins and did not see any. I think a lot of the issue (at least for me) is the chipping and putting seems to be much more difficult at the beginning stages of 2k23.

I do think I played too aggressive and too fast.Β Best wishes, Frans I haven't played yet this week but in my limited time with the game so far I've found TS to be much more difficult. And I would say I'm normally as comfortable with grids off as on. I think it's almost entirely down to the increased roll out. I said to a few guys I play with I might start doing the odd practice round on TST courses ahead of the week just to get a rough idea of run off areas etc. (Not the worst thing though, I'd quite enjoy that tbh) And maybe it's just me but I find the greens all look a lot flatter. The slopes aren't as obvious at all at first glance. Maybe it's an adjustment period there. As @hammersman says, they've definitely slowed the greens a little in the last day or two.

I did throw in firm/fast this tourney, but that also played fine when I play tested. Without grids, it is just so much more difficult to know when you need to go for a lag putt... and I found out quite a few times in my four rounds!

As @hammersman says, they've definitely slowed the greens a little in the last day or two. Just play rounds 3 and 4 first and tell me whether you still feel that way... sure didn't feel slowed down to me...

Putted really well on 160 greens, I prefer faster green irl and I love the rollout on this game. 28% holed putts over 10 foot from 11 attempts, my putting was good from that range but only 50% holed from 5-10ft . Was going well on -2 but 2 dropped shots in the last 3 holes to finish E for round 1. I played the same course on USE Exhibition which is basically TST without follow cam and bunker chipping, hit -3 in high winds on 136 greens. Courses play much harder with faster greens so all these balls that make the game easier is absolute trash imo, default balls have realistic bite on the greens and play just fine. Regarding marker, it makes no difference to me as I never touch it for distance, auto intent is absolutely fine for putting and the short game. Very excited for TST in this game if we go Master swing difficulty as the set up here is superb.

Even though I give this game a 10/10, so far I'm not enjoying the experience as much as 2K21 for TST. Perspective changed, the scout/approach cam dosent seem to get down as much, I can't read the freaking map, it's so small. Imagine on a green full of tree shadows... Raged quit at -7 in 2nd after I sent another ball 40y wide left thanks to the map again. I feel it's way more random. I don't feel I deserved my birdies, same feeling for lots of my bogeys too.
If there was an option to make the real scout cam available on the green only, that would be perfect for this game.
