Even though I give this game a 10/10, so far I'm not enjoying the experience as much as 2K21 for TST. Perspective changed, the scout/approach cam dosent seem to get down as much, I can't read the freaking map, it's so small. Imagine on a green full of tree shadows... Raged quit at -7 in 2nd after I sent another ball 40y wide left thanks to the map again. I feel it's way more random. I don't feel I deserved my birdies, same feeling for lots of my bogeys too. If there was an option to make the real scout cam available on the green only, that would be perfect for this game. The overhead map takes up half of the screen and pressing RB gives a full overhead green view. I would never say it's so small, quite the opposite.

Fairways are way smaller inside the said map. That was the point I don't have a problem with it as it seems the same for the last 8 years of HB golf games. But you should be able to zoom in, I agree.

It is possible for designers or anyone really to screenshot an overhead green with grids on and basically make a course book for all holes that will benefit sim play for approach shots.

But you should be able to zoom in, I agree. Came back checking it again. It's very uneven. You see hole 16 alamost alone, big zoom on it. Hole 17 is par 5 and I see 7 other holes in part or total with it. Almost impossible to use the line in it like 2K21 and see if your aim is aligned with it. There was one official course with a very high map like that. I now feel most are like that now

Great course, wise choice. Played the first round - very smooth, I got 6 birdies and 0 bogeys if I pretended the 11th hole didn't happen. On 11, I hit an approach just over the high right side of the green. I chipped the ball downhill to 20 feet short, it rolled past the hole and into the left rough. That's expected - I was on the wrong side of the green.
Unfortunately I then chipped back uphill from the left rough to 1 or 2 feet short, it pauses, and rolled all the way back to me. Wound up with a triple bogey, which according to the onscreen leaderboard dropped me from 1st place tied to 6th. (Not that it would matter - I'll stink it up on my own next round! LOL)
I set up a back nine round after to check the green grid. It is orange left of the 1st round pin - like the yellow starts in the 9-square flag area then turns orange just outside it. That's legal at least in 2K21 but I'm just being specific so you know what to look for in the future Frans. Anyway, I'm still glad we're doing this course.
---- Frans, I love the real life courses, a huge reason why I'm here. I think you may be scrambling early in the season for the correct IRL course of the week so I'd always appreciate a real course sub. I think with a lot of us still learning, some of the more adventurous fictional courses will be too difficult. I'll jot down any real courses I find in case you need some help as we continue. ----- Concerning the ball- the higher the green speed, the more likely folks will choose the friction ball. The higher the green speed, the more the game feels like pay-to-win. I think if the green speed chose is 160 or more, then the course should have pins that generally sit in flat areas - not perfectly flat necessarily and not all 9 boxes of the grid, but something where the green slopes significantly but near the hole, it's flat enough to handle.

fransslabak, williamwes626 I'm not sure where 2k will end up with on green speeds. But another thing to consider when choosing green speed is wind speed. It seems when playing in high, very high winds, ball rollout is effected more. 160 green speed in 2k23 seems as fast as 187 in 2k21.

Thanks for the feedback and yes, you are very right; the new putting makes selection of courses and conditions - especially without being able to control what balls people use - a very tricky affair. I playtested all four rounds of this week's course with grids and never ran into trouble with balls rolling forever. However, I did run into that happening multiple times when playing the actual tournament without grids. If I have to account for that not being likely to happen, that rules out A LOT of courses, especially RCRs, or I would have to only use super slow greens. This is why these test events are so useful - the new game requires adjustment from all of us, including your scheduler. I'm likely to get it wrong some times early in the season, so please have some patience. I'm walking a fine line - at least for now - between being careful not to select tricky greens and ending up with only flat greens (and thus only being able to use a limited number of courses)...

I have found that the faster green speeds tend to be quite a bit more difficult on the TST with the default ball (only one I've used)..
I would suggest turning off the marker at some point, but that really doesn't make a difference to me..

I don't have the game yet, but am curious, in the settings for "Marker", is there an option for "any", or just on/off? Just thinking out loud, that if there was an "any", maybe it could be set to that and those players that wish to play with it off could do so at their own discretion.

I would suggest turning off the marker at some point, but that really doesn't make a difference to me.. 160 greens are pretty close to 187 from 2K21 I think. Maybe we should be looking at making 160 peak speed as the ball rolls out more on downslopes than 2K21. The greens in the 130’s on this week's course play much slower than 160 but have a much more realistic downhill rollout than slower greens on 2K21. The faster the green the bigger the challenge, having balls that slow green speed down is as arcade as it gets. So a challenging course difficulty can be negated by picking a golf ball. The default balls have good bite and play really well in this game, this is a sim tour and arcade like golf balls will ruin it. Personally I want to take on the course and it's set up, not drop the difficulty myself because the greens are too fast or greens are too firm for me. Should be the same course set up for everyone.

You can't use any as this will allow the marker setting which shows elevation info also. This was the same problem in 2K21.

Only got to play one more round, I think the settings have been fine. I shot a 69 again in the 2nd round, 6 birdies, bogey, double - my fault on those. On the 11th hole, I missed the green then chipped it in from the rough - that was fun. I think my stats are typical - hitting 2/3 of fairways, greens, putting I'm getting like 25, 28 - something like that. I have to check but no problems overall. Last season had a great schedule, I think expectations are lower - for me personally, as long as we're playing somewhere real in the world, I'm good. For my game, I feel comfortable with everything including putting but Doyley mentioned something about next week being the last test week, like Hammersman said, we probably need to establish what TST is using as a maximum speed and I speak for myself when I say I wouldn't mind having you up the speeds next week to see how high we can go. Then again Hammers probably right that 160 = 187. Whatever you decide to do for the next exhibition, it's probably best to test faster speeds green like 150 and up in my opinion. --

Illegal pins are going to come into play more in this game. Most designers are pretty good at pin placement though

Round 2, missed a lipped out 8 footer on 18 for what would be nice 67 in the wind. Hole some pretty long birdie putts including a monster from the fringe. Short sided myself on 11 to leave an impossible downhill chip that rolled off the other side of the green, manged to get up and down with a tricky chip for bogey. Happy with my long and short game this week so far. Shocked to see only 2 people under par on PC so far after 2 rounds, myself and fellow hammer rob4590 Make that 3 hammers in the top 3 with simchars1968 up there also
