Finally gave TST a go. Will suck big time out there, going further down the LBs.
Sorry have not followed the tST threads for 23, will we still have the levels like we had at the end? If so, will we start where we left off or will there be a QS?

Whenever TGCTOURS has its qualifying week, will be the first week of the TST Season 9 and we will use the first few weeks (or later weeks if people join us later) to assign players to flights based on their results in those first few weeks. In practice, that means we'll have two weeks without flights and as of the third week, flights and flights leaderboards will return!

Would hate to tarnish the names of legendary golfers. Onward!

I'd even sandbag to be in it. Conveniently, my play in the last game regressed to the point where nobody would know I was sandbagging!

No disrespect to Rob and he played some great golf. But we both landed in seperate bunkers, I hit it stone dead to 2 foot with the ugly word now in this game splash shot out of a bunker, he chips and rolls off the green. Is this the TGCTours way now, someone posts up chip is the shot out of bunkers and everyone just goes with the flow, so now we don't actually have bunkers in the game just big sand colour mounds. If TST does not have a rule against this crap I'm out, I am one the ones that would support TGCTours with donations if they had a real sim tour and just for one moment TST was looking like a real sim tour. But how can it be sim with everyone just chipping from bunkers.

But how can it be sim with everyone just chipping from bunkers. Problem I have with the splash shot in this version of the game is unless it's a full shot - it's basically a guaranteed duff , and the full swing shots aren't even a gimmie, just more consistently able to get out using it - and I've done it 3 or 4 times in a row before finally switching to the chip to get out. I'll even use pitch at longer distances, but cannot afford to take 3-5 strokes just to get out of a greenside bunker as that pretty much wants me to throw the controller across the room. People will choose the shot they feel will give them the best chance. Your scenario above, sounds like you got par - and he ended up taking an extra stroke from rolling off the green. So The game is what it is - and currently is a bit broken with some of the severity of Fast/Slow results - especially with Splash in bunker from what I've experienced..

Have you tried hitting the chipping green and learning the slower tempo. Also changing club up and down again resets tempo and will give you your usual tempo.but you will have a quicker backswing. Jeff if you are struggling with tempo for partial splash you will also for chip and flop, the short game tempo feels natural to me and I don't move marker it is just a slower tempo for shorter shots. I honestly cannot remember the last duffed splash. I would pick splash anyday now and I hit about 3 sand saves in my first 2 TST rounds out of 4 attempts. Also when fitting club fittings favour tempo before other attributes for LW and SW. Tempo is key to the short game as much as distance control. But the more you hit the chipping green the more you learn partial distances and tempo. You won't duff splash shots if you get a good short game tempo and you get a feel for the avatar's swing distance when practicing the same shot repeatedly.

Yup, done all that - I'm actually quite comfortable with the chip shot - but cannot for the life of me get anything right with the splash and flop. I've spent countless of hours practicing those 2 on the practice green. And I'm of the mindset that I want to use the right shot for the situation, but frustration and +22 on a round doesn't make for a fun game, SIM or otherwise..

If you can consistently get your normal tempo inside the grey window for other shots you can for splash. Remember I have learned the game's auto intent which gives a pretty consistent slower tempo. You start moving that marker back and forth you are changing that required tempo, try the chipping green and just leave the marker where it is and hit the same shot until you get 5 good tempos. Change distance and repeat. I love the short game of golf and scrambling is the weakest part of my game in real golf but putting the strongest funnily enough. I love the new game is more about partial shots around the greens. If you can get good a splash in this game, you can also get good at flop which is the only way to get remotely close from short siding yourself.
