Sheep River Club is my entry for the 2022 National Treasure contest. I was given the monumental task of building a course in perhaps the least picturesque state in the union... Alaska. Enjoy!

This is class. Crazy good use of plot extension trick for the long sightlines, fun routing, loads of nice greensites and the planting was just awesome. Oh, and a better name than the last few courses. Nice work!

Yeah. Beautiful job planting this one. Really captured Alaska. I liked your green complexes. Had some entertaining putts. Nice job, cool logo, and good luck in the competition.

Pat, you've done it again. Your line about "the least picturesque state in the union", well, I think you may have turned it into the most picturesque plot in the game, period. The thumbnail I used was from the stretch along the river, which is so lifelike, it's scary. The dry creek beds running through the property is genius, such imagination and ability to make it happen. You sir, are an artist!

Judging from your screenshots, I'd say you did a fine job on this course. You appear to pay great attention to detail and have a knack for creating a natural appearance. You probably did not have many Alaskan golf courses to consult before making this design; I think there are less than 40 golf courses in the entire state which is over twice the size of Texas. Weather and a short golfing season, not space, is the limiting factor for Alaskan golf courses.
As you may know, Sheep River heads from an unnamed glacier and runs through the Talkeetna Mountains to the Talkeetna River about 11 miles northeast of Talkeetna, which is a rail stop for the railway that runs from Anchorage to Denali National Park. Denali is a bucket list visit, and I think if you made that visit you would have a different opinion about Alaska as a scenic state.
So I do take issue with your assertion that Alaska is perhaps the least picturesque state. Alaska consistently ranks very high among photographers as one of the best states to visit for nature and wildlife photography. I don't live in Alaska, but I have made 9 visits to the state and shot hundreds of nature photos. And I have photographed in many other states. I would vote Alaska as being perhaps the most picturesque state. But you are of course entitled to your opinion.
Your design theme and planting are fairly convincing for Alaska - I've been to Talkeetna, but I've not visited Sheep River so I can't comment on your river. It would have been nice if the game offered Fireweed as a plant selection. Fireweed is a distinctive and pervasive Alaskan plant that blooms a bright purple/pink from June to September and covers large areas of the grasslands and mountainsides.
Thanks for all the effort you must have put into this course and for sharing it with this community.

I am pretty confident in assuming that he was joking about the lack of scenic nature in Alaska.
