Welcome to Uinta Meadows, my entry in the National Treasure Competition for the state of Utah.
The real life location for this course is the picturesque Christmas Meadows area of the Uinta National Forest in the North Eastern corner of the state. This valley is bisected by the twisting Bear river and its tributaries that sprout off in various directions.
I didn’t go with a specific style of other courses in the state, more I tried to use the existing location to find the course rather than bring it here. There are a few obvious human influenced touches here and there but mostly the course is meant to be what the land presented on my test plot of the site. The routing is meant to meander up and back down the ridge lines and create nodes you return to at different points in your round. Driver isn’t always the best option off the tee so be mindful of the green contours, fairway cambers and any hazards lurking as you step on the tees.
The course is 7065 yards. The Greens are published at 170 but designed at 187 for more of a challenge. There are two back tees manipulated to present different tee options as well as a front tee for those that like to play with the lower clubs. Below is my possible suggestion for Tees with Pin sets and Wind directions:
Pin 1 - Blue - North
Pin 2 - Gold - Southeast
Pin 3 - Gold - West
Pin 4 - Blue - Southwest
Wind speed and green speed can be up to the difficulty level you are trying to achieve.
Notes for Judges:
Please use Blue Tees for judging purposes
Also there seems to be a Boreal bug I didn't realize. If you move the fairways to Very Firm it plays more how I designed it with maxed out roll.
Unita Mini Meadows:
Also on the site is a pitch and Putt course with 18 miniature template holes.
The Hole templates go:
1. Road
2. Eden
3. Redan
4. Plateau
5. Maiden
6. Long
7. Cape
8. Alps/Punchbowl
9. Prized Dogleg
10. Narrows
11. Leven
12. Lions Mouth
13. Knoll
14. Hogsback
15. Bottle
16. Biarritz
17. Short
18. Double Plateau
Thank You Wes (jwtexan ) and Andre (Crazycanuck1985 ) for running this fun competition. Please offer all your thoughts, praises, constructive criticisms and everything in between in the comments and I hope everyone enjoys the course!
