Think it's probably worth mentioning that the deadlines for both DT and WC were extended by a couple to a few days due to people under time crunches. There's no reason worrying about this imo, as if we want a field with the best possible selection of courses then a deadline extension of a couple days to a week is probably a good solution Serious question, how much time did the designers get to work on DT and WC courses? I genuinely don't know, and was wondering if that compares to the 3-3.5 months we had for NT. World Cup was the same time frame. Dream Team was actually over 4 months I believe. Mid August was the draft and publish window was extended to the end of December, initially being Dec. 15. A 4 day extension really won’t allow people to do much else besides finish up minor details and get their course out so in my opinion, doesn’t really make a difference to me if the deadline is pushed back. If people need it, I say let the stragglers have it. All of us that published earlier on did so by choice. We all could’ve held onto our course and hit the publish button at the last second whether or not we needed the full 3 months. |

These things never happen way in advance because it's based on how many guys are able to finish when it's nut crushing time. Last year's NT had an extension as well but the schedule was a little out of wack and it was being shoved into a smaller window last year so it was necessary. I know you had a special situation this does effect how you managed your time and I respect that but for most that published when you did this wont effect them at all. It would only effect anybody publishing now running out of time, but if you're running out of time I would assume you are squeezing as much time out as you can and not publishing a week early. |

Also it’s really unfair to the alternates. If an extension is always granted why have alternates?

It doesn't matter that much, all we want is the best possible field of courses Just because it seems an extension always is granted should never ever be a reason to allow it for every contest. There are some good examples of why an extension has been granted in the past such as lost saved file on PC that was unrecoverable due to corrupt file. Think that happened to Leecey. If you can’t complete it from the time that was given when you signed up then maybe you should reconsider entering the contest. Maybe we should be able to start working on our next course contest before the window even opens up after all it’s just a silly video game. Oh I don't think it should be allowed for every contest. But some things that happen in people's schedules during a design window can't be predicted easily at least, and I guess my point is that if people are under a genuine time crunch and still want to produce something worthy of the contest then there shouldn't be much harm in even just a day or two put on top. In world cup, which had an original deadline of April 1st, I believe 7 out of the 30 courses published wouldn't have been finished in time had the deadline not been changed EDIT: the point on alternates is completely valid fwiw, i do agree with you a fair bit there  |

Also it's up to Andre and Wes what happens, no changes have been confirmed yet. I'd just wait and see what happens

Also, you were one of the first publishes. If you’re not ready, don’t publish. Would recommend this. If anything, leave your course and click publish on the last day before the deadline if you don’t end up getting enough time to fix things, why this is so complicated is beyond me. (Edit: Meant to reply to Steve’s last post, sorry, multitasking).

(Edit: Meant to reply to Steve’s last post, sorry, multitasking). Honestly, I am not taking this super seriously...I'm just stating how I feel and my thoughts on it. I also said it wasn't an apples to apples comparison in the post. That said, I did delete the post because I realized it wasn't on the same level at all and didn't really add to the discussion. I'm sorry to have given off the impression that I'm upset or mad or anything like that. At the end of the day, I'm pretty new to contests. So hearing of extensions to deadlines was also new to me. I didn't know it was a common thing that happened. It just caught me by surprise. I published early for reasons I said here before, and am fine with that. But I also know I would have had more time to work on my course if the deadline was even July 4 instead of June 30. |

Given that the cc contest isn’t happening since we don’t want to overlap the possible release of a new game, our deadline is pretty much “whenever me and Andre feel like it.”
So with that in mind, we will extend it out as we see necessary to get the most amount of competitors published.

An extension to the 4th would be perfect, as I could then put off re-routing my entire course until the 2nd or so. I like this guy. Extension granted. |

Hey Crazycanuck1985, we are extending the deadline. Let’s go with an arbitrary 15 day extension for now for no good reason. Unless you come up with some other number. Consider the window pushed to July 15. |

My brother was in the ICU last fall for two weeks with Covid...it's no joke.
