moving this thread over here. old progress posts: tgctours.proboards.com/thread/29588/runamok-rookie-contest-projectthings are coming into shape. still wrestling with textures for the waste areas and carving some interesting slopes into fairways / greenside areas. hoping to have a beta soon but at this rate it will probably just be a final version.

Really excellent. This course plays well and there are a lot of well thought out holes in terms of angles. Played tips and pin 2. Since this is a beta I'll try and give as much critique as I can. I feel like the planting could be a little more consistent. A couple spots were clearly the circle planting grasses which looked a bit unnatural (between 5 and 6 where I noticed it most). I wouldn't mind the desert background being hidden a little more (especially on the approach on 2) the desert is a pretty stark contrast to terms with the rest of the course; don't mind it overall but it was pretty black and white there. The green on 8 is a little odd; the right half seems to be pretty much unusable. Would be dastardly to put a pin up on that tiny plateau. Loved 9 and the approach (really cool clubhouse). You had a couple mounds on the fairway which I like in terms of strategy; would love some more planting or elevation or something to make them pop (10 and a few previously). Green on 11 might need to be tamed a bit (left side is like all orange/red). More circle grasses on 12. No teebox on 14 lol - cool 3 shot par 5 though all of the shots made you think; think the sculpting up on to and around the green could be smoothed a bit though imo. Cool idea on 16 but I wouldn't mind a little more danger - missed left with no real penalty. Some planting around the views on 17. 18 a nice finisher. Overall nice hole strategy and great framing. Enjoyed the round and look forward to the finished product.

thanks for the feedback pizzastrangler, I appreciate the depth! definitely needs some polish in terms of planting/texturing and sculpting. my efforts to encourage ground game and shot shape left the greens you mentioned a bit *too* unruly for sure. thanks again for your thoughts. I'm keeping an eye out for a beta of your rookie project.
