Parkland style golf courses are a very popular stop on the PGA Tour, giving us many great golf holes between the tree lines. This contest is giving the opportunity to produce more fictional courses of this style into PGA Tour 2K21. Myself, and cd06  will be hosting and judging this event. If anyone else would like to step in and help judge that would be great to have some more eyes! 

I am "newer' to this website, I started making courses and submitting them to TGC Tours about 8 months ago at the end of 2020. I grew up playing this style of course being from the northeast US. So I have loved making courses such as Burning Bridges, (a 36 hole winged foot inspiration) Thunderhawk, and my current WIP. 

I have also been following along with joegolferg 's thread: Template Hole Golf as those who are interested in this contest can take so much inspiration from what he is preaching there, for those who are in love with golden age golf.


Rules/Signups/Submitting

We don't want to get harsh on rules, as we want you to be creative in your own right, and do your own research and investigating on how you want to design your course.

Rules:
- Since this is a certain style, there are going to be restrictions on theme: You are limited to countryside, rustic, boreal, autumn, and harvest.
- 18 holes, par must be 70-73, and 6500-7500 yards total length

Signups:
- To keep this thread active, if you would like to participate, just leave a reply below and you're in.

Submitting:
- Same thing for submitting your course, just leave a reply below with the name of your course and a few pictures and I will update this with a list of the submitted courses
- The submission window opens 12:00am EST September 15th. Registration is now closed!


Judging Points/Tips

- We will be stressing realism. When I play your course and feel like I am hacking it around in real life, bonus point for you. 
- Under the realism category falls what style of trees you use. Ash, Elm, and Oak are a good starting point to get that tree-lined course feel.
- Textures: parkland courses tend to be lush, well manicured, and pure. A.k.a. the opposite of links. 
- Green Complexes: this is where you can utilize Joe Golfers thread above, determine which style of green complex you want to use.
- Bunker sculpting: from fairway bunkers to greenside bunkers, and how greenside bunkers are incorporated into the sculpting of the green.
- Routing, course strategy
- Fairway spline/shape/aesthetic (width, secondary cut, smooth spline, blended into the green)
- Tee box shapes, size, location

Extra credit:
- An iconic 18th hole
- Clubhouse design
- Putting green, driving range location
- Sprinkling in a few driveable par 4s!


cd06 and I are excited to get this contest going and hope we get some designers interested in joining. This is open to anyone of any level, and our main goal of this is to see more designers use this parkland/golden age style architecture in 2K21!

Really hope this produces some great parkland style realistic courses, as others have said we are sorely lacking these in the game. Everyone loves Islands and Cliffs and anything Bandon related but these are the best looking courses in the game when done right and the most challenging, thank you for starting this contest cant wait to see some of the courses.

Definitely the reason I came up with the idea. I agree I think they are the most satisfying courses to play when they are done right for sure. It’s a fun challenge. I’m happy that people are interested and participating!!

For a long time I've been thinking to myself that I'd love to see an annual golden age design contest. I'd love to participate but I'm currently in the CC and somewhat struggling to keep up with course progress in that, so entering is out of the question for me. Being a big parkland enthusiast I wouldn't mind helping out with judging the courses if you need help with that?
