Day 1, Match 2And here we have one of the delayed matches held up while the Strikers Ken W coggin66 found a convenient place near the 4th green for a wazz. Trouble with age is you have to go when you have to go eh Ken. Normally as an adopted Aussie he'd just relieve himself in the cup but as there was Lady Carol inflames47 about his gentleman English kicked in. Jason jason755 and David dave69 stood by chatting about the Euro's. All very relaxed. Eventually they all remembered what they were here for and with the Strikers already 3 down it was an uphill task. They inched their way back in but each time Jason and Carol dragged themselves back into the ascendancy. A surprisingly wayward drive on the 17th by The Bank left Ken with the pressure of taking the hole but Carol and Jason stood firm to close out the match with par. Monarchs win 3 & 2LATEST: Monarchs 5.5 Strikers 10.5

Day 3, Match 9The Press Corps are currently on their afternoon siesta brought about by too many tequila slammers in the clubhouse last night so we'll carry on getting up to date with the early results in from the Day 3 singles. This match featured the Monarchs David G SirLeOssi bringing his world famous German efficiency into the pixel golf proceedings against the Darling of the Press Corps, Strikers Mark L IGolfBad who I caught just before the match at the cashpoint getting some money to purchase more pens and paper for his scribes. David picked up a lead of 2 by the turn in a tight match but an eagle on the 11th started to put some daylight between the players and David closed out the match on 15th with a par being enough to take the hole. Monarchs win 4 & 3LATEST: Monarchs 6.5 Strikers 10.5

This is like the real Ryder Cup, I’m off to bed while the golf is being played in a different time zone, I could wake up to the Strikers running away with it or the Monarchs back on level terms.
To be fair if it was the Ryder Cup I’d get the boys round for beers and a very late night, I won’t be getting the boys round to press refresh every 5 minutes whilst hanging on Ben’s updates!
Up the Strikers!

Day 3 Match 5 Singles
Michael O'Connor vs. Kie Farrell
The round started off in a complete struggle for both sides as neither team could get the other one to make a mistake. It wasn't until the third hole that the strikers struck first, getting a much needed birdie. The next two holes were dead even though, causing the first 4/5 holes to be halves.
Second part of the front nine saw the Monarchs leap back to draw level with the strikers with a birdie of their own on the 6th. After halving the 7th, the strikers come back with a two hole victory, nudging out each one by only one stroke. Strikers are back up on top leading by 2.
At the start of the back nine both teams halve the first two holes, which give way to another Strikers point on the 12th. Strikers now up 3.
Both teams halve the hole on the 13th, but on the 14th the Monarchs close the gap a little bit more; they win the hole. Strikers only up by two now.
Unfortunately, this was the last hoorah for the Monarchs player at this juncture of the match; he tied with the Striker the next three holes, putting him out of contention by simply just running out of course to play.
Strikers squeak by 2 & 1

Day 3, Match 10The final match up of Day 3 featured the Monarch's ABBA impersonator Ronny r0nrun (is he the good looking one or the rough one?) against the Strikers Crocodile Dundee Avakrac Ronny didn't have much joy here despite a good round he caught Andy on the top of his form and every time Ronny had to settle for a par it seemed Andy slotted home the birdie putt. To score -9 and lose by how much he did is astonishing. Bad luck Ronny, top dollar Andy. Strikers win 6 & 4

I really did squeak that one. I'm glad it didn't get to the 18th! Well played Michael.

Day 2, Match 7In a dispute in the Press Corps over who gets the next round in it was left to one of the players to take notes as he went round. This match saw the Monarch's mix big gun Charlie deathstar and Ho Chi Minh Mitch volinvietnam against the Strikers pairing of Boss Man Art Art Vandelay and trainee Press reporter Ben SkyBlueBen Armed with a club in one hand and my pencil and notepad in the other I set out on my intrepid journey to attain Scribe Status. Art and myself couldn't believe our luck as we came up against a subdued Charlie who rarely for him didn't get double digits under par. I have no idea what happened, my notes were unintelligible and Art threw them in the bin in disgust. It would appear from the scorecard that the Strikers took the game on the 17th. Charlie and Mitch wandered off into the sunset to debate what went wrong, Art went off to change into his gold suit to charm the ladies in the Clubhouse bar and I sat dejected on my own in the bar, dreams of a future in the prestigious Press Corps in tatters.... Strikers win 2 & 1At the half way point. LATEST: Monarchs 6.5 Strikers 13.5

Moving on to day two and time for Better Balls Match 3 For the Monarchs it's Michael Connor & Jason Randle teeing off first and while Darin Richards & Simon Morris have the honour teeing off second for the Strikers. For first six holes neither team could get the better of each other. The Striking pair of Darin & Simon struck first on the seventh and again on the ninth. The Strikers took eleven to thirteen with their better balls. The Monarchs had fourteen, but that was going to be their lot and almost run out of holes to pull it back . A halved hole on the fifteenth sealed the match for the Strongbow's and just to make double sure went better on the eighteenth. Strongbow's had the better balls while the Magner's had sweet & sour battered chicken balls

Day 3 and it's the first round of the singles. Hoping to get a date for the weekend were Magner Leon Anderson and Strongbow Mark Buenger, the problem was that there's only one available date in the bar and they were going to have to woo her with their golfing prowess. Mark got in first by offering to buy a drink, Leon came up with the offer of a double. Mark offered her some of his peanuts. At this moment she wasn't sure who she fancied the most? Then Mark excused himself for a trip to the little boys room leaving Leon three reign to impress. Mark tried a couple more times, but it was Leon that pulled in the end . Don't worry won't tell the other half

Hello folks, Jim Nance back here at the Cyder Cup bringing you Day 2 action where match 1 sees the Striker’s Martin ( Mart_1980) and the other Mark with a K ( IGolfBad) take on the Monarch’s Fox Ashton ( Ashton Fox) and Hound Dan ( catcherman22) Da fox and da hound mesa favorite movie Jim Jar Jar…you’re back. You know this isn’t going to relate to Star Wars at all right? Does not matteren Jim. Yousa see disa old lady finds disa baby fox and decides to raisen him. At da same timen her neighbor gets a new hound puppy… Let’s get to the action. The match started with the Monarchs racing out to a 2 up advantage after 3 holes behind birdies from the Catcherman. Not one to back down from a challenge Martin was able to pull one back for the Strikers on the 4th with a long birdie putt. …And den da fox and hound become palls and played until da hound’s owner called him home… Jar Jar are you going to say anything about the golf match? Nosa. And den… Ok then let’s get back to it. The teams exchanged birdies over the next three holes and walked up to the 8th tee with the Monarchs 1 up. All players landed in the fairway but the second shots would make the difference. While the other players landed their shots within 10-15 ft of the pin, Martin was able to stick it within a foot for an easy tap in birdie. The tricky pin location stumped the others and they had to settle for pars. A birdie from Mark on 9 pushed the Strikers in front 1 up at the turn …When da fox and hound grow tup daysa trying to besa palls but da owner has taught him to hunten animals liken da fox… Another string of birdie exchanges kept the score the same as the golfers walked to the 14th tee. This time it would be the Monarch’s turn to strike back behind an incredible tee shot by Captain Fox that spun backwards down the slope rolling just past the pin about 3 ft. An easy birdie conversion was matched by pars from the opposition and the match was squared up once more …Eventually da old lady needen to releasen da fox in da wild which maken him vulnerable tada huntah neighbor… The Monarchs kept the foot on the pedal with a gift from the Strikers when both players inexplicably bogeyed the 15th hole. Par would be good enough to win the hole and push the Monarchs back in front 1 up. Mark and Martin knew they were in trouble as the holes were winding down and Martin came through in the clutch as the only player in the group to hit a perfect tempo shot, he was the only one that ended up with a birdie opportunity as the others needed a bit of luck to save par. The attempt was converted as the ball rolled around the cup before dropping. The match was level again with two to play …Da neighbor trespasses on a nature reserve to getsa da fox but da fox escapen. Da fox den goes backen to saven da hound from a bear… Martin would continue his run of hot play on 17 with a tee shot that nearly dropped straight in the cup. Unfortunately the flagstick denied the incredible and Martin had to settle for birdie. The Monarchs, feeling the pressure couldn’t match as they both amazingly misjudged the elevation difference and missed the green. They were forced to settle for par and the Strikers went 1 up on the way to 18. The pressure was on. The Monarchs needed a win in the worst way. And Dan came through in the end, making a 40ft birdie putt to close out the match, forcing it to AS. What a match folks. Jar Jar, did you even watch any of it? …Da neighbor still wants to killen da fox but da hound stopen him…oh, nosa Jim, but mesa sure it was a berry good matchen Well that’s all the time we have today folks, we hope you join us again for Day 3 action here at The Cyder Cup Monarchs 8 Strikers 15
