If the tours goal is to keep Plat scores down then just move everyone here to Legend?!?? Otherwise, it doesn't matter if the cut is +25 or -25, as everyone is playing the same set-up. I'm sure someone can always make a poll, yes? Should Plat focus more on variety in their golf or do they want to maintain H and VH winds to keep scores manageable?

If the tours goal is to keep Plat scores down I have never thought this was the goal from either the scheduler(s) and/or TGCT staff over the years.

this might sound funny as next week is literally the hardest week I've scheduled (US OPENs generally are) but I generally dont try to keep plat scores down (Carnoustie Cove says Hi). However, if the cut becomes really high (generally if the cut exceeds -20) the game becomes less about finding the right shot and more about hitting the shot right!
Courses generally have an "upper bound" of what's possible for people to shoot (usually hovers around -18 to -20) so the closer that "average scores" come to that number, the less "opportunities" arise within a round that allows a highly skilled player to outshine a less highly skilled player (let's be fair, if you're in plat, you're pretty amazing at the game). (this is the same reason PGA pros dont play your local municipal course)
The same actually happens when a course becomes too hard! The number of opportunities start to vanish when it's literally impossible to hit a good shot!
so when you say -25 or +25, both those would be way too extreme as golf truly plays differently at those cut numbers. This is why I work within what I'd consider an acceptable parameter of easy vs hard courses (cut should be between -10 and -20) with an exception thrown in for Majors (which I sometimes do or do not use).
This all being said, I CAN and WILL continue to use medium winds, I just havent the last few weeks as Ive noticed medium winds almost feel like having no wind at all due to how easy they are to calculate (and people hit the magic -18 number on that day)

No scheduler is ever going to get it right over the course of a season or even a long-ish period of time week to week. Some weeks will play towards lower scores whilst other will play towards higher scores. Knowing how to adjust the course itself to make it as balanced as possible week to week while ALSO knowing the wide skill level top to bottom here on this tour is an impossible task really, but kudos to you and all the rest who have ever taken on the responsibility.

Also agree medium winds is a bit of a snore fest but I’m ok with it being once an event, kind of like using the shorter tees. Good option for R2 or R3 to see who can make the cut or maybe catch up.

Hello. I just don't play enough perfects at the moment to be able to cope with such difficult setups, so I'll be having two demo marks this week, please. The good news is, however, that I found a way to calibrate perfects again at a lower speed. Now I need to work on muscle memory again, as this has suffered in the past few weeks. At least I shot -40 again yesterday in Jack Wagon, which, with its more benign conditions, is a good indicator for the amount of perfects a player is able to hit. Concerning the balance between 'finding the right shot' and 'hitting the shot right' mentioned by Q, I'd like to add that the latter concept is included in the first one, too. Thus, in harsh conditions, you cannot distinguish anymore between shots that are missed due to a misinterpretation of conditions and shots that are missed due to bad execution. I've stated before that I'm rather a fan of easy CC style setups, but I'm aware and fully agree with the fact that Plat needs to be a challenge. Still, I'm with B.Smooth13 in that Plat should have a variety of different setups. Each set of conditions has its own bunch of people that are experts at it and its own group of people that don't like them. For instance, why not include some more rounds with 144 greens (There's many people that don't like them. Me included, so I'm biting myself here lol)? Cheers and good luck all!

I realize we've laxed the old days rules of colored gridlines within the pins 9box, but I thought we still had the "no red" rule?
Not trying to be a downer or nag - this round made literally no difference to me since I'm way out of the cut consideration - but felt like it was worth mentioning. I also saw round4 was high wind too, so I won't re-add to my list earlier, but that's nothing but high or vh in the past 2wks.
Not trying to hate on you at all Q, btw, though I fear my recent comments will be read that way. Just bringing up/discussing things as they stand out to me, hope you understand there's no ill will involved - your job isn't an easy one...nor one that pays very well Hole 3 pin 4 that. I remember facing that one in a match play tournament, even at 156 default a direct sidehill like this rolls a couple feet under the hole (unless the putt goes in, of course). Not a fun pin above 144 lol. I'm not a huge fan of how a few of the pins fare from long range. In spots it becomes exceptionally hard to manage a two putt even with an incredibly conservative lag putt, though it's understandable for us at the top to be punished for missed shots; for example, this pin is far less concerning with a successful approach aimed for about 10 feet short, where the putt is a straight uphiller. This is the most extreme example of this week's course requiring some approaches to be played to a specific point in the green instead of flag hunting, which I think is healthy for a course's strategy.

I had a 3ft tap-in on hole 3 of the 3rd round. I was tired of playing and just closed the application just as the putt went in, to come back to play later. Now, every time I load in, it shows me the putt going in and I get blue-screened.. Has this happened to anyone before?
I can't finish the tournament. Terrific stuff. I am not in bad shape for a finish and am going to be taking some demo marks and negative world ranking points, I guess.

I think that high winds are fine for most courses. We haven't played with the wind meter showing the MPH in a while now up here, but I think the range in 2k21 is 8-14 mph for the high setting, no? Someone can correct me if I am off. That seems reasonable for the physics in this game and for comparing to IRL what you would see out on a course. This is, after all, the "top level of players" under the TGCT format, so challenging them both by the course itself and with the conditions should be welcomed. I'd rather see a lot of high wind settings rather than switching from medium to very high if that makes sense. Medium is fairly tame here and scores will drop with dial a distance. The physics can get a bit wonky with very high on the other end of the spectrum. High wind setting is a reasonable compromise most of the time if the course allows it. Again, IMO, and just my little 2 cents on the matter. I think B.Smooth13 is bringing it up more as a "samey" kind of thing more than anything, though. I get that, too. I'm pretty sure that the wind range depends of the course theme. I noticed that high winds in Highlands is close to 19 mph and will go around 28 for very high. A forrest course never gives that kind of winds. It'll be around 15 for high and 22 max for very high

DQ’ed for chipping from green. This one stings as I feel my decision was definitely warranted.

Managed to get it to -41 for the tournament and sitting 4th currently. Will be my best finish on Plat to date. -13 rd3 in the v high winds was a highlight to get us within 1 one of the lead. Just couldn’t keep up with Brodie’s extremely good last round. Also went cold back nine to cost myself 2nd place which was a shame but onwards and upwards to next week 🏌️♂️
Well played Brodie!

Whelp, looks like the decision is final now. Here it was….on 187’s Per TGC’s rules, “the line of a putt includes a reasonable distance on either side of the intended line.” Thoughts?

Whelp, looks like the decision is final now. Here it was….on 187’s Per TGC’s rules, “the line of a putt includes a reasonable distance on either side of the intended line.” Thoughts? Well, if being 25 feets on the right of the cup means it was "playable" by the rule, then they are right, it was maybe impossible to holed, but possible to be on the right. Stupid rule if you ask me. It's tough to judge when the perfect line is indeed going to touch the fringe or worst. Where's the limit though? If I can't be closer than 40 feets otherwise I'm putting out the green, is it still "reasonable distance"?
