The Sky Blues return to the Coventry Building Society Arena with a certain amount of trepidation. A successful re-election saw them restored to their previous heights of CC-E despite their form pointing more towards CC-K. TGCT do like their little bit of fun. Anyhow, back in proper like was all that matters. And playing Spurs. Ah, Spurs. Better memories conjured up about Wembley than last night.
The first 20 minutes? Full of goalmouth scrambles for the City. Delivery from the back was very hit and hope but the Sky Blues clung on desperately.
(Pixel Golf note: But for a 4 putt double humph I'd have taken this on my first foray back into the wilds of CC. Trees got in the way a couple of times, give me a nice wide open links any day, but my short game has been vastly improved by not being a nob and choosing sensible options).

It's all a bit tentative here from the Sky Blues as we reach half time with the team desperately trying to build confidence. Playing very conservatively so not really creating much. A few shots proving more troublesome to the crowd than the Spurs keeper.
(Pixel Golf note: Two rounds under par so far so I'll take it. I appreciate it's an easy track but I'm keeping my expectations realistic (for me))

Open letter to the F91 fans and supporters: Dear Gerry (It's just one! The president! LOL, did you get it? ), the F91 football team acknowledges that Juventus is playing at another level at the moment. Despite having played well and consistent, and despite being quite pleased with their performance, which has been one of the better in recent weeks, the F91 players could not do anything but accept the defeat. In fact, F91 was happy that Juventus allowed for a late consolation goal. As a result, the whole F91 team will continue without changing anything and act like the match didn't happen. In particular, it could happen that F91 representatives do not know what the media are talking about when being asked about details from the match. Sincerely, F91 Dudelange Cheers and good luck all!

What a struggle that was, the boys were confident but the first half hasn’t gone well. Haven’t been able to control the pace of the game or the passing lines. rd1 Rd2

Very disappointing 2nd half from the Sky Blues. Were never really at the races.
(Pixel golf note: Game took an age to load. Tempo was flakey, more so than usual. Perhaps should have closed down and left it for another time?)
(Pixel golf note edit: Restarted game. Loaded much quicker. Played NFL Stableford. Tempo back to normal (for me). Lesson learned).

With that East Fife forfeit all further matches.
I will continue to run the league until the end of the season for you but am never turning the game on again.

1st Round 64 (-6)
The first thing that comes to mind when I hear Manchester United and Celtic is that free kick specialist Shunsuke Nakamura. In the two matches he produced 2 quality free kicks, the second sent Celtic into the last 16 of the Champions League.
After being humbled at home against Juventus the visitors were wary of giving the Red Devils a sniff at goal. The first 10 minutes they were cautious whilst creating their own chances through Ajeti and Edouard. But that all changed shortly after that as both teams went at each other with Forrest and Fernandes coming close at either end. On the 22nd minute mark McGregor carved an opening and found Edouard just inside the 18 yard box, but did the Frenchman manage to find the back of the net?

Have to admit, City are only playing this week because they committed to this league and will fulfill their fixtures. Not feeling it at the moment.
First half, just flat out struggled. There were some good periods of play but so inconsistent. Birdies at 17 and 18 in round 2 will at least give me some interest in the leaderboard tomorrow morning, but I feel I've lost that last green tick.

My 7 year old daughter was in floods of tears at the end last night. Her first experience of the cruelty of penalties. I think it was the sight of a distraught Saka that set her off, that was a hard watch. Why give a 19 year old with not one professional penalty behind him that kick, I don't get it? I told her not to worry, he's got his whole career ahead of him and he'll be fine. And the beautiful thing with football, you lose a penalty shoot out in July and then before you know it it's World Cup qualifying in September! The dream never dies. These young Lions are the real deal, we'll be back. Over the whole match last night, the better team won. I hope we see them again in Qatar...
