The entire Pirates team is so excited for this trip to Bristol. Zinnbauer asked his captain why the enthusiasm and was told that most of the squad watches ESPN every day and they were planning on going to the campus after the match in hopes of seeing all their favorite anchors. Seeing an opportunity for inspiration, Zinnbauer said the field trip would happen ONLY if the team could show some marked improvement on the pitch.
Improvement he got. Crisp passing, players communicating with each other, even running plays! This is the best the Bucs have played in several matches, dating back to last season. Even with a few bobbles early on, Orlando played like a team on a mission (opened with a pair of -8s). Zinnbauer doesn't have the heart or courage to tell them this Bristol is not THAT Bristol, but he did make sure the hotel has satellite.
No idea where this sudden good form came from, but not going to waste it. Halftime has been shortened.
Onward!

Rd 1 v Burton The problem with kicking off early is not knowing what’s a good score or not, for the second week running Carlisle have started (we think) strongly. One sloppy pass out of defence in the second minute was cancelled out by the right winger chipping in very soon after. The boys in blue have learnt from last week, the keeper has gone down injured so the team can re-group after the fast start. -9

After a halftime that featured a call from someone who said he was introduced as Chris Berman and was excited to offer the team a personally guided tour of the Sporstcenter studio, the Pirates came out with eerily the same amount of firepower they had shown in the first half (round 3 another -8).
Then in a critical junction of the final stretch it was revealed that the person who called was actually Kel Varnsen and the studio tour was of the latex packaging facility at Bristol City's Vandelay Industries plant.
Word spread throughout the bench and onto the pitch. Mutiny was averted, but not before a mini revolt happened (two moist tee shots in the identical spot on 7). Orland limped home, basically trying to allow more than one goal in the last 12 minutes of play (round 4 and despite the quad Humph managed -1).
Zinnbauer claimed to know nothing of the roose but was obviously pleased with the effort by his squad until the finish. Only time (and the Robins) will tell if this was good enough.
Seriously SOOOOO happy and shocked at how well I hit the ball today, hence not wanting to stop. First time since the nerfing that I feel like I have a cut made before the cut time happens. Wonder if I might get a greenie back, but that effort on 7 in the final round makes me think that won't happen.
GL Jamie, you have been playing well so I bet you can cover this.
Onward!

Round 1
Facing the Medway Minigun, the Fifers needed to come out strong, missing a couple of bendy tiddlers on the hateful 144ft greens and the red fast into the water on hole 7 (sure enough the second attempt was a red fast that sailed out to nearly 300 yards) didn't give much hope. Birdies and bogies were traded coming home and only a strong finish got me under par. Herne Bay only need +2 to take the lead.

After the first half of Juventus FutureBuckeye11 - Ajax, Erik ten Hag was a bit unsure what to think... “Obviously, this was a solid start - yes. But we’re up against Juventus and they are one of best teams we'll play all year. Against opposition like that, you need to take all your chances; not just a few of them. So, yes, I’m satisfied that we played our best first half of the season so far, but also a bit worried that this might still not be enough to avoid us having to fight back yet again...” Round 1: -11 Round 2: -11

Juventus FutureBuckeye11 - Ajax Erik ten Hag was fuming during his press conference afterwards: “When I told the players I wanted a first half of the same quality as the second, I didn’t @!$#ing mean lower the standards of the second to match the first... “ Anyway, Juventus will still have to play decent to get all three points.

Quick apology for pulling the trigger a little early (mainly due to scorekeeping reasons but also as an update): somehow the 2 demotion marks I was still sitting on earlier today have shrunken down to just 1 in the final standings so I'm pulling another escape trick to stick around CC-D for another week. Only time will tell if I was merely seeing the future a week early, and I will hereby refrain from making these comments about my demise until it actually happens and I have full confirmation about it.
