SkyBlueBenBeing the champion 'practice' player I am, I shot -4 but was all over the place. I agree about the short game being harder.

I personally feel the penalties on the irons/short game are too harsh. But the longer you play the more you understand what may happen. I wish I hadn't used my competitive rounds as part of my learning curve but hey ho... This. At the risk of sounding like I'm complaining. Wouldn't dare even say this in the thread in the news forum. But yeah. Look at my double bogey in round 1 where I all of a sudden got hit with a slow (1'st one of my round, funny how there is a hazard there, guess the randomness algorithm decided it was my time) and that slow put me in the water. And I (my fault) messed up my 3'rd (tee shot) and put it in the heavy rough. I can drive fine, but for some reason my irons are coming out red fast with the occasional slow thrown in to mess with my head. Having some difficulty predicting what my shot is going to do. Feels fast, comes out slow, feels slow, red fast. Janky. I need to play with my bag. As well as go look at my clubs, and look for some more forgiving irons, been trying to avoid that as I don't want to lose distance. I lucked out with getting my promotion two weeks ago. I can (if I decide to) sit out my K rounds this week and work on my game (irons) a bit.

My distances were all over the place and I'm sure that didn't help with my struggle. Swapped back in my less forgiving irons and surprisingly found them much more palatable, probably because I'm used to what they do. Should never have changed my clubs. Regretting it now. Back to how I was before Red Nerf!

Back to how I was before Red Nerf! You sound like you are me lol I swapped my 288 driver (Callaway gold I think) Went back to the 288. I swapped out my 3 wood yesterday for one that is more forgiving too, same thing, tried to go back to my original, forgot what it was now I'm using a different one. Going to screenshot my club list with all the distances and then go into the menu and write each one down then experiment with swapping things around. Don't want to get my setup too far away from what I am used to so will do the write them down thing so I can revert. It's my longer irons I want to fix or experiment with. Those 170-200 yards shots are killing me. May do that now, getting covid bored. Was playing Outriders a lot lately but have cleared the game and now after my daily golf I'm left twiddling my thumbs looking for something to do..hence my natterings here lol

Thanks billybudd0623 and CGib2 . I'll give Chuck a chance to chime in and then make an executive decision. I'm sure everyone is waiting on pins and needles to know what the winning team will name themselves Sorry, was out of town this weekend. I like Long Balls. The name, mind you. The name.

Can I make a suggestion to name the divisions too? Maybe the Palmer Division and Nicklaus Division? Not that it really matters, but Division 1 and Division 2 just reminds me of high school sports sandsaver01 dansampGood idea I think. What do you think?

Week 1 for Team 4: They Who Shall Not Be Named
Put together a sparkly new bag o’ sticks for the modified swing mechanic.
Not my clubs, not my swing, not my day.
Rd 1: +6
Swapped back to my pre-buggery bag and went much better until I didn’t. Still, a lot fewer of those weird shorties. But still, if one tries to hit 3W over the water on 18 from sand, one gets sand rinsed from his ball, and one gets saddled with double bogey to ruin an otherwise ok round.
Ruined Rd 2: -1
Believe it or don’t, +5 likely makes the Kut in K.

Team 5 will be named The Long Ballz And my first round is done. Very very bad. And its not because they nerfed the red fast, this one is all on me. +1 for me. Looks like I may be continuing my plummet down the CC ranks sandsaver01

sandsaver01Rd 1: -9 -5 thru 6. Clean round, but could have been great. If the ghost scores are any indication, there's a bit of an adjustment period underway to the swing changes.

BOUNCEBACK BOI R2: -7. One silly bogey but a hole-out Eagle on the 18th to probably move out of demo mark territory. This game is so much more fun now than a week ago, now that the two-way-miss is very much in play. sandsaver01GO THE KINGS OF SWING NO REGICIDE ON MY WATCH

first, Team 1 will be known as “We’re Snott Losing”, keeping with the theme of our recent postseason! I’m with the crowd that’s found the update pretty reinvigorating, I red fasted all drives and some irons strategically to fill gaps. Felt like I had to focus more on my drives and that kinda distracted me from worrying as much about me putting and some of my other usual bugaboos. Round 1 I did let the tempo change get in my head on the chipping - had some really awkward splashes and flop / pitch distances and was overly tentative trying not to fast. Was doing ok with the driver going for perfect until I hit a red fast and pulled one like 230 into the short water I didn’t even think was in play! Round 2 took advantage of nice conditions and just maybe getting some mojo back, love this course as it’s visually one of the best I’ve seen this year. R1: -4 R2: -10 sandsaver01

sandsaver01We're Snott Losing, checking in. Not sure if I'll be pulling my weight like a "Plat" player anymore, but gonna be doing my best to figure out the new swing mechanics. For what it's worth, I do think that playing for perfects is more fun, it's just that they're so incredibly awkward to hit. On XB, I feel like I'm barely moving the joystick in order to produce a perfect. I basically have to move it as slowly as I can, no matter the calibration. But anyways, two decent rounds to start off S4! Let's go team. R1: -7 R2: -8

Week 1 - Rounds 1 & 2 sandsaver01I’d like to say that I’m happy about the update but I can’t. I’ve had roughly the same swing since I started playing this game, it was probably fast to red fast I don’t know, I never had the shot feedback meter on my screen...but it was consistent, and I could aim and have an idea of where my ball was going to end up. I couldn’t have even told you there was a distance difference because I very rarely hit anything slow...not on purpose, it’s just how my swing was...so I get why they did it now that I know. Unfortunately, completely rebuilding my swing has proved troublesome and very inconsistent. Had a couple of putting gaffs in round 2 and couldn’t take advantage of the shorter tees. Sorry team, I’m probably going to be pretty useless until I get this figured out... R1: +1; R2: +3

I am sure everyone is enjoying the new swing mechanics, some it appears more than others. The 'pre-tourney' favorite from the Long Ballz will probably not be able to tee off until tomorrow due to REAL LIFE crap.
