It's a bit like Fifa vs PES. All the casuals always bought Fifa because it had all the official licences, but PES was always the better game. EA were always going to have a slick marketing campaign with pretty pictures. It's going to take a lot more than that and a few official courses to convince the likes of me. I always preferred CLV's Augusta to the EA one anyway. I'll more than likely be sticking with this series of golf. Thousands of great courses yet to be played and thousands more to come. I think competition will better the HB 2K brand plus maybe TW will push them harder. After all he was dumped by EA.

1000s of good courses? Maybe 100 at best. It's a sea of sh%$ for the most part. Tgctours will probably love this. Less people to deal with.
EA will crush HB.

2k crushed EA in the NBA 2k/NBA Live "war" - so much in fact that EA canned the entire NBA Live series. The Jordan edition of NBA 2k is still regarded as one of the best hoops games ever, and rightly so.

I’ll buy both games and spend most of my time with a community that has TGC Tours. I like career mode but once I discovered TGC Tours I have not even went back to career mode.
I just like playing against real people. But I will also try the EA career mode just to see how it plays.

Curious to see if EA will have its own course creator or will they push their course DLC while also pushing further litigation or whatever has increased the last year+ against the game with the course designer? Hmmm.

Even if that were true (which it's not), how many 'good' courses are EA going to give us? It might mean less at TGCTours, it might not. And it's not just HB any more, in case you hadn't noticed?

Examples, The NHL Series (last good NHL game was NHL 94) The FIFA series Madden Etc. Yeah, 2k21 has flaws (and plenty of them) but the feel is there.

Does it really matter that EA is going to have the official Masters course - Yes. Do I care that they have all 4 named majors - No. Is that really important to a lot of people?
I think 2k with the course designer is in a much better spot. Sounds like the EA game will have a deep career mode but for me being on TGC tours and playing in different societies is much more fun than playing against the AI.
I don't think that I would make the switch to EA from 2k. Will wait to see what the broader community thinks once it's out.

I don't think that I would make the switch to EA from 2k. Will wait to see what the broader community thinks once it's out. Yes, it is a huge deal to have the four majors. If you look at other forums, at social media, and at reactions to yesterday's news, you'll see that people want to play the famous courses like Augusta, Pebble Beach, and St. Andrews, and they want to play them in the real-life major events, and want to play them as the pros. The majors are the events that casual golf fans watch and become invested in. And it's an area that 2K was lacking, in terms of licensing. I know career mode isn't a big deal to a lot of the folks here, but if you look at total course plays in PGA 2K21, you'll see that the top courses with the most total plays are all the "official" ones - real-life licensed ones and the official HB ones that were designed in the previous TGC games. Those courses have millions of plays. The most played, non-official course is Sky Peaks Resort, Canada, which has just around 200,000 plays, which is an insanely impressive number of plays in its own right. But it has 50,000 less plays than Bay Hill, an official course that was only released a month ago (Sky Peaks was published last September). Those officially licensed courses are only used in career mode and online play, and the HB Official ones are only used in career mode to my knowledge. So it's clear that folks are putting lots of plays and rounds into courses like Katagowa Country Club and Ocean of Memories (both of which have over 2 million plays each) because they are playing career mode.

I think you make very valid points - I can see people wanting to play the actual Pebble Beach, Augusta, St. Andrews. I can definitely see the appeal of an immersive career mode but I really love the ability to play the community and move up in Circuit. I think either way, we win as both sides fight for supremacy.

Amazing how accurate Royce's version is. Best course in the game. EA will be pressed to do better.

I like following my own career mode with the TGC Tours playing against real people not computer generated opponents.
Yes official courses are nice to play but I actually enjoy the designer courses that are out there to play. You can still sift through the bad ones as well.
I started my TGC career in Oct and have not put the game down since.

And to add to how good Royce's course is.
He got banned for two weeks.
Wokegusta is a result of that.

I just want a decent career mode. Tired of playing against humans that exploit game mechanics to shoot in the 50s.
