And for the record from my short time of playing 2K golf games I am starting to dislike this publisher as much as EA. Bring back the indie published golf game 🤪 Hey I'm with you on that. If HB went back on their own and just focused on the game of golf like they used to instead of all this arcade fluff, it would be a much, much better game. That's how I fell in love with the series. It is literally this 1 version that I dislike so I'm hopeful they can turn around and make a killer TGC 2025! 😉

There's definitely a gap in the market for an Indie golf game without all the commerical rubbish. Just a simple game with decent gameplay mechanics and a developer that communicates, interacts with and values their community. I'd be all over a game like that.

It is literally this 1 version that I dislike so I'm hopeful they can turn around and make a killer TGC 2025! 😉 This is the thing HB brought back the community golf game with their course designer. We hadn't had that since Tiger 08. Do you know that TW 08 course designers could put their own custom paint shop designed flags to their courses. We had community sites to play tours back then and some great courses to choose from. TGCTOURS has done a lot for this game but there are a tons of really great societies out there also. If it wasn't for HB and a course designer we wouldn't have this site, I just can't see this working on limited courses. I just can't see a great online community without community content It's why games run for years and years on PC also we have mods.which can improve graphics, fix bugs and add content. I love that open garden that lets creativity in. Now EA's game is a closed garden and we are relying on them to keep good content coming and hopefully not at a premium. For the record I put hours into EA Tiger series on PC online but never once played online in their console games and I have every one still on my PS4 and PS3, the longevity was always short and the next game a year later was always disappointing. Back to 2K, they are trying to turn this into a money making arcade golf franchise and that stinks unfortunately but I still enjoy the basic society mode and gameplay. I really love the short game and as I said before 2K21's short game was rubbish so that improvement was worth the money alone for me. The big thing for me going forward is cross play as I have a lot of people I would like to play online with so I am really excited about that.

I know it's only a pic, but if you haven't seen the post/pic Seamount4life posted on Twitter comparing EA and PGA2K, you might want to check it out. Wow.

In case anyone wants to compare 2K's Pebble to EA's: Can you also shows us the comparison of the societies and the course designer?

I understand there are people on both sides with the two games. I like golf games so I’ll be playing both for sure. Both games will have their pros and cons. The EA fans will bash the 2K game and the 2K fans will bash the EA game. Everybody has their suggestions to make a better golf game. Will that so called perfect game ever come? And these companies are in it for one thing, to make a profit. And both games will cater to certain markets and those particular people will never agree with each other with regards to both games. I’m am just going to enjoy playing both games for what they are worth.

I will happily play both games, the designer has become stale for me I’ve created 27 courses in it before 2K23 and with the little they have added to it I no longer feel that I can do my courses justice. If they do upgrade the designer which I doubt they will ever do then I might get into it again. The new EA game even though it only has 30 courses on release if the gameplay is ok and they maybe implement live weather like they had in one of the TW games I can honestly say I will get a lot of fun out of until the next golf game comes out by whoever.

There are room for 2 golf games I think HB/2k whoever is in charge needs to focus on the course designer. We are stuck with Unity at least for the foreseeable future they ain't gonna pony up for a new engine and even if they did who is to say they could shoe horn a proper course designer into it?
HB needs to get some decent artists in house and understand quality control and play testing is a thing. Can you imagine the state the game would be in if Tiger didn't work on it? Hey that's a joke.
Hopefully EA's release plays good it does look good. Maybe it just turns out to be the pretty girl who turns you on till she opens her mouth.

In case anyone wants to compare 2K's Pebble to EA's: Can you also shows us the comparison of the societies and the course designer? Societies were HB’s rip off of Country Clubs straight from EA’s last successful golf game so I’m guessing that aspect will return to the new game. The course designer is great when it works but as said previously not flexible enough to do any justice to real life courses. You can get the shape but not the character of the course so what’s the point in spending all those hours when you haven’t got the palette to recreate what you ultimately want to achieve.

I think both of these games become obsolete once Diablo 4 hits the shelves.
When systems start showing what next gen can do. These developers need to up the anty

While I really hope 2K does a lot more with the designer for their next game but I totally disagree because there are some great courses in this game that I have played irl that look superb and totally do the course justice. Yeltzman's Princes really nails it for me, Forest of Arden is another course that is very well done comparing to 2 courses I have actually played in real life. Now I know everybody is raving about the graphics as it seems that it is the be all and end all for some and as someone that put's on Ray Tracing whenever I can as I like shiny pretty things, but never at the expense of performance. A plague Tale is a current gen game that's upscaled 1440p to 4K 30hz but just having a go at it on Game Pass cloud, 30fps is not a nice experience at all. 30fps for a sports game is even worse and for current gen game that is not good. Hopefully they have a performance mode but there was only mention of 4K 30hz, nothing about 60hz. So the game might look great it certainly won't feel smooth to play at those framerates on a big screen. If it has a 60hz mode I bet 9 out 10 people will be playing the game with it's performance mode as most people will always pick performance for a sports game over better resolution or graphics.

Yeah if you think there aren't a whole slew of user created beautiful courses in 2k23 I really don't know what you are looking at.

PS5 & Series X are not running 2K23 at a locked 60 fps so console players will be no worse off. I personally would prefer a locked frame rate than a variable which is what 2K has opted for with its dogged engine & server network. What you’ll find is consistent repeatable performance with EA’s game that won’t vary from platform to platform. Cross platform play could even be a viable option unlike with 2K’s game.

It is not a locked framerate it is vsync 60hz performance or 30hz quality which caps frames to 60fps or 30fps which will have latency that vsync causes but will cause stutter if frames drop below . Vsync 30hz is also even worse as 30fps will give even more input lag and 30fps feels laggy in itself, like playing underwater as someone mentioned. Also 2K23 doesn't support variable refresh rate because if it did it would be a much better experience with VRR on. Seen as there are many HDMI 2.1 TVs out there now it is criminal not to support VRR on consoles in this game.
