Has an EA golf game ever had a course designer ?? I've only ever played Mean 18, Leaderboard golf, the entire Links series and x1 version of TW golf.
Links was the pinnacle of video golfing for its time. I miss those days dearly!

This thread is getting circular as this was answered already.

I was watching a trailer of EA pga golf the ApexHound. And he showed tons of old Rory PGA footage.I’ve never played Rory. But is it me, or does Rory golf still look light years better than 2k23?.And Rory came out 7 years ago.It has moving caddies, great course textures, and pro swing animations.Wow, I’m really stunned.I’m a 2k fan.But why did video golf game graphics go backwards when 2k started making golf games

I delved in some more pga ea 23 videos.Ans Respawn Sports nailed it for me.As someone above mentioned.I’m a true believer that EA golf will be for the more serious avid golfers. The options in this game are going to be out the roof. And love now playing a course in other areas of the world varies from one to another.Including sea level Pebble Beach vs Banff Springs where the elevation makes the ball carry farther. And the unique shot types.. stinger.. and thank goodness for the Texas Wedge
I don’t think March can get here fast enough for me.I really don’t even loading up 2k golf anymore.I’m super excited for this one.I do feel bad for 2k golf at this time. They literally took a uppercut count out after the videos posting now online for EA.They had all the opportunity to wow us with 2k23.And they really dropped the bomb.To the point I’m not sure they can recover to even consider a 2k25

Did anyone else catch the part in the EA description where they talk about their courses being designed with Lidar drone technology?
Reading between the lines, if you pay attention, its almost as if EA has been silently monitoring the complaint threads against HB/2K and are trying to address those concerns!
Don't 2K21 use LiDAR for their official courses ??

I do agree after reading this that a course designer would be great by EA. But in reality, most (95%) of the user made courses in the 2k series are hot garbage. They truly feel like clones. And have very little area uniqueness to them. I blame the outdated graphics engine on this. Personally EA 23 golf will be for the more serious golfer. One who appreciates authentic courses. Where casual golfers will stick with the money grab washed out 2k23 And I’ve had 2k23 uninstalled from my gaming rig 3 days after launch. No need for me to waste anymore of my valuable time on it. One thing I would like to see is the Links series get revisited. Maybe Microsoft can throw their hats in the ring again for a video game gold revival series Both games will have their pros and cons. Both games are also geared towards certain markets. I’m a golf fan so I would always buy any new golf game to at least try it out. It is pretty easy to switch witch back and forth with each particular game. And will there be some sort of API checks with regards to EA tourneys like they have with the TGC Tours? The TGC tours has a very good structure. My game play will be both games. I like the TGC Tours, my societies…But I will also check out and see what EA has to offer with regards to their tourneys. And competition is good for both games anyway.

That is one of the annoyances for the community that in this regard, they just have not really stepped up in this area given the tech is there and has been for quite a while. However you need to understand that HB is/was a small indie company so the TGC series was created with not as much backing as EA have always had and so they've done remarkably well with this series. It was hoped that getting 2K on board that 2K23 would be a big improvement (2K21 less so as it was the 1st under 2K) given it being the 2nd under 2K and them having 2 years since 2K21 to work on. However this was not the case and, IMO, made it slightly worse. This is a big frustration and why a good portion of the community believe this game was released too early and unfinished as a money grab before EA hit the market. I still believe this was the case. EAs game although looking fantastic, have always fallen a bit short on realistic ball physics, particularly on the green and putting - this is where HB smashes it. I hate that 2K burned me with the current game but I still have love for them for bringing TGC2, TGC2019 and 2K21 which have been the best, simulation golf games I have played. This is why I hope this EA game smashes it and hope that HB/2K see it as a challenge to compete with them and really push the boundaries for 2K25 rather than give up. At this moment, I know HB have it in them to deliver the best simulation golf games but they've just been lazy with 2K23 IMO.

I’m intrigued by several things from the EA title and all are going to put hard downward pressure on 2k. 1. The graphics look awesome. Running down to 30 FPS must be a typo because otherwise as many have said, this isn’t a “next gen” title 2. Career mode sounds very intriguing based on being able to start as an Amatuer and how realistic the schedule will be based on the courses in the game. No offense to 2k but it cannot be worse 3. It sounds like you’ll be able to play live bots or players during career mode meaning as you walk down the final holes you’ll know where you stand and this is very cool. 4. The animations for the golf ball and how it work look absolutely stunning I guess we’ll know more upon release but 2k has Tiger and a course designer to help keep itself unique and neither in my opinion have been used correctly Unfortunately quite a lot of next gen only titles max out at 30fps on console so far. Gotham Knights and A Plague Tale Requiem spring to mind as two I was interested in that maxed at 30. I will say not all 30fps is equal; this game on quality dips WAY below 30 (if it ever hits it) and performance on console drops to nearly 30 at points during the swing I reckon. 30fps it can be done *ok* but yeah I'd hope there's a performance option on console.

You're always on point with these and I can't agree more with this. It's a series I'll always think fondly of and HB improved golf games massively when they started it. Like you I had hoped being taking over by a massive publisher would push the series on but instead it has been allowed to stagnate and double in price. Best case scenario this pushes 2k to invest in HB and try to bridge the gap in areas the EA game leaves them lacking. Because let's be honest as you say there's no guarantee they will nail certain aspects either. It's exciting times at least!

The new EA game has yet to be released yet it is already better than 2K?
Ok……..
And there are sure a lot of EA spokes people on here, lol…..
Look, the game looks awesome with the Course but let’s not call it the greatest just yet.
All video games have flaws…

All video games have flaws… Very true, the only thing we know for sure is that the graphics is way better, but as for the gameplay we can only guess/speculate at this point.
