1) True, but there's lots of other factors out there that 2K doesn't have either (looking at you, Augusta/The Masters/licenses to all four majors) 2) 2K didn't sign an exclusive deal with the PGA TOUR, only an exclusive deal with Tiger Woods. Golden Tee also has the PGA TOUR license. 3) You're probably right, but 2K isn't exactly known for their unwillingness to use paid DLC, either...*cough NBA 2K series *cough 4) I sure hope EA learned from the mistakes they made with Rory McIlroy. Although, all of Rory's post-release courses were given away for free, so... That press release was definitely targeted at the areas where people have been a bit negative on 2K21 - it mentions a famous real course by name (Pebble Beach), and mentions you can play against and as real pro golfers. Since HB can't seem to get the career mode sorted out (leaderboards shifting and changing, etc.), perhaps the EA game can. Then I'll end up getting two golf games - one to design courses and play TGC Tours, and one to actually get a quality single player experience. Yea all good points. If EA could get a proper career mode with licensed majors and other tournaments I would probably be all in depending on game play. Competition is defiantly good, as a baseball fan its something MLB the Show needs is a proper competitor Their career mode in the past has always been the best. Up to and including this release, The Golf Club single player experience has always felt like a tacked on side thought.

Doesn't EA charge to play online these days? I haven't messed with an EA game since Tiger 14 I think but seems like I've read to play online anymore you have to subscribe for a monthly or annual fee.

Nope. Ok, just wasn't sure what EA Access was all about over the years. Just remembered reading way back they wanted to you to 'subscribe' & I thought it was to play 'online'. Thought wrong I suppose. Just haven't cared about an EA game in years.

Just haven't cared about an EA game in years. EA Access, if I recall correctly, allowed subscribers to play EA games in the Vault for free. Subscribers could also buy full games and DLC at a discount, and you could get early access to games before official release, too. I think it's called EA Play now or something.

I uninstalled it 10-15 minutes later & gave my machine a manual dry douche. Ironically shortly after that the machine took a dump & had to go back to MS for an overhaul. It was related to a faulty system update I learned later but makes for a good story.

Let the 2K vs EA golf battle commence. I love it.

Interesting. Those who love mid-air ball spinning will be excited There was a time when HB Studios did work on the old TW EA games. I wonder if EA snags an exclusive Augusta license out from under 2K’s feet. They have a history of outbidding 2K for exclusives and having it last years (NFL/Madden).

Always loved the EA Sports Tiger Woods game, especially the course creator that eventually came out.....Would be cool if you could create courses on it.

The majors are the missing piece for whichever golf game can scoop them up - Augusta/The Masters being the crown jewel of that group. EA already announced in the press release they are going to have Pebble Beach, so I could see them having the USGA license again. And whoever scoops up the PGA rights could also have access to the Ryder Cup.

Has EA made a good game in the past 10 years. None are coming to mind. I've tried a few (Battlefield series, Battlefront series, Madden), but none have any longevity of fun.

As long as 2K has a course designer I don't see official course licences being an issue. I'm sure it will continue to get annoying having to look for alternative names but it won't be an issue unless there is some major clamp down.

I never thought that there'd be two AAA golf games competing against one another, yet here we are. IMO, 2K just needs to snag the Augusta license and its game over for EA.
Personally though, I hope EA capitalizes on the career mode. Id buy both and play 2K for TGC Tours and EA for a PGA career mode.
