I was going to wait until all of the buzz died down a little bit to give this one a playthrough and get a good look, but apparently there won't be any lull in excitement for this course, so I got a tee time. LOL There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said, but what I can say personally is that this course has overtaken Black Salt Valley as my all-time favorite B101 course, and the scary thing is, it's not even close. There were things on this course that I caught myself just staring at, routing ideas that I thought were tremendous, and just a general quality and vibe that is pure class. Again, just personal opinion and I would say this regardless of contest or not, but I think this course goes into my top courses in the entire game. Cheers for a great design! (I could play 8 and 17 on a loop all day and be happy) Somehow completely missed this comment at the time - thanks for all the kind words Eric and particularly pleased at the routing comment. You know I love that stuff haha. I reckon I spent a week on routing alone and finally found something I loved then edited further as I went. The way 9/18 run back to the clubhouse on opposite sides is an homage to New Highland Dunes, whilst the river usage is a nod to Cabot, although I wanted to bring the river back on the back nine to anchor the feature a bit more. The guiding thought when routing was to have those environment changes between river, trees and cliffs feel unforced and to give you a sense of place throughout. Think 16 actually encompasses all three environments which I loved. The whole course was basically built off of two or three holes. I knew what I wanted 4 approach, 6 tee shot (inspired by mattf27 ‘s par three 8th at Cherrybrook) and 18 (that C/C template par five) to be right from the start so it built off those holes and worked around them. In the end, 10 and 11 were the magic solution that made the routing work - love how 10 takes you back to 2nd green and the higher part of the land and how 11 gets that skyline green, whilst also both having the road and clubhouse as a visual reference point to where you are. Also allowed me to tease that 18th one more time (think you see it four times before you play it). Had to give up a few really cool holes in the process, particularly a par three in dunes where the fifth green ultimately ended up, but the course got better every time. Could talk about routing all day haha.

Since I am gone for 2 weeks I figured I would pluck a course off the top shelf portion of the menu. This will be course #2 tonight on Xbox Friday. Tee off should be around 7:15pmEST. Very well done from the 1 hole I played (LOL) since I knew I didn't have to ranger several holes for playability aspects. Looksing forward to seeing the rest of this one.
We have enjoyed all of your courses Ben and I am sure this will not disappoint. Thanks for giving the community great tracks to play and also what you do in the designer tutorials. Streamer will be in the shout box and posted here if you want to watch us poor Xbox guys play this game.
taff1980 and rhi04life streamed. Excellent course Ben.

I've played this course a few times now and it gets better ever time! I love the way the land moves and the undulations in and around the greens. Love the environment. I found the hole designs and strategic decisions faultless and some of the sightlines were breathtaking, my personal favourites being the 4th and 8th. This goes down as one of my favourite courses in the game and I wish you all the best for the WCOD.

Thank you for the kind words and glad you've found it to have depth and replayability - that's always one of the things I prize highest, so great to hear. You have no idea how many times 8 was redone. It was a nightmare to sculpt and work through, so I'm really pleased that's been a hit with so many.

Now I think a well designed risk/reward drivable Par 4 might be my FAVORITE type of hole design..... so I'm an easy mark. But 8 might be my favorite hole in the competition.

b101 Two months without a bump for this place is criminal. So, here you go I don't think there are enough superlatives, this is a stunning course as the WCoD results suggest. That front nine is awesome and the view from the top of 16 might be my favourite on the course. That said, I really appreciated the stretch from 12 to 14. I'm already seeing this course as a good source of inspiration for my 10th CC plot Another congrats on the World Cup win and I hope Ouarzazate does well in NT too!

B101, please port over Strathlorne in 2K23. It’s an absolute masterpiece and my favorite course on 2K21.

B101, please port over Strathlorne in 2K23. It’s an absolute masterpiece and my favorite course on 2K21. Thanks for the kind words! Sadly, with my planting style heavily based around sunken trees and bushes, there are very few simple ports in my back catalogue and not all will make it over. I’m finishing up Old Wickham Heath at the moment and will look at Strath next - it’ll basically need all the underbrush redone, but hopefully it’ll come good. Happily, object meter isn’t an issue for this one.

Finally ported. A large amount replanted, added a little more length and slowed the greens a touch. Probably missed a few things and with the change in distances, physics etc, it won't play exactly the same as it used to, but hopefully nice to have it.

Thanks for this! Like I’ve said cool to see some older courses a lot of us haven’t seen before. Fun finishing stretch and set of par 5s!
